Yes it was a bit strange, same date, same turn, two victories :)
Third game is on the way, already getting interesting again.

Started my first serious entente single player campaign now, few things:

wow, the germans push hard for the schlieffen, i must adjust my strategy drastically. i thought i could block it - impossible.
my impression was that half the german population was participating :? just kidding, but i attatched is a nice shoot:

approx 25 army corps (some in the fog), 15 small garrisons, 4 artillery (1 in fog) and 3 fighter (in belgium). seemed like every unit i killed was replaced by two new.
that was indeed hard, i will replay that now, i know you made it easier already. i guess gbr needs to send troops asap to france to support!?
i build a bigger navvy instead, thought i protect my island but thats pointless as when france surrenders uk gets 3 collapse points. cant risk that.

two other things:

1. I did a combined serbian-russian counteroffensive in the east and captured all austrian production cities vienna budapest and bukarest. my impression was that austria still got new units, can that be the case? because i could not defend them at all and lost everything again but somhow the ai never re-captures vienna. see screenshot. it remained russian until the end.

2. finally i had a crash, does not matter i wont continue anyway the game was lost anyway. just for future updates. Entente turn 23:

*edit* I've sent the bug report to the lab for further analysis but the script-monkeys already sounded a bit tipsy and told me they need more time :mrgreen:

thats a good hint, i should have checked this line in the crash log in the first place. will do in the future to save you some work.
It should say 11.1, yes, but it does not. i ll double check before i come back to you.
looks like my mistake, installing 11.1 not correctly, that explains also the amount of german troops marching in on schlieffen.
probably i did not replace all files when i put it into data folder. i do it again and replay with entente. :oops:

that only leaves the vienna problem, the empty hex was once surrounded by 6 units but none of them walked into vienna, russian units was killed few turns ago.

Well, that's an issue rooted in the deeper regions of AI calculations coded by other people and to ascertain any defects there is like searching for a needle in a haystack. :|

If you upload the savegame I'll have a look, but I can't promise anything.

Easier than copy/paste a single folder?

Anyway, personally I'd advise against downloading anything from Softpedia. They used to bundle their setups with malware in the past and I won't touch their stuff again.
The developer's "homepage" points to a modding thread in a Silent Hunter forum which I'll have yet to read.

nah, thats not worth the time thanks for the offer. never mind its only the AI that doesnt take vienna, every human player will take it and i think i focus on MP now anyway.

@berto: installing potzblitz is actually already pretty easy, its really just one folder that needs to be replaced. it was just my mistake, i guess after too many hours and too many updates and seperate games that i play parallel, i just clicked something wrong.

anyway i am still open for new MP opponents after summer leave, anyone just write me pvt, but i ll be afk for rest of august now for summer leave.
i ll be back.

One virtue of JSGME is that by reversing mod enablement(s), you undo any earlier changes, bringing the install back to a pristine clean base install. You can then re-enable the bits and pieces of PotzBlitz as needed. With no left-over cruft from earlier version PotzBlitz enablements or manual quick-fix/hot-fix patches.

I wonder if Unwichtig's mysterious glitches result from cruft and patching miscues piling up over time. How can you be sure that you and your MP partner are on exactly the same page, have both modded the game properly and in the exact same way? It is interesting to speculate whether many of the reported glitches here are not so much coding issues as mod install fumbles.

I don't endorse Softpedia. It was just the first-in-list download site to result from my search query. JSGME is available elsewhere. Download from a site that you trust.

I find modding with JSGME to be fool-proof. It helps guard against "just my mistake" and "just clicked something wrong".

For years, I disregarded JSGME. I was just too busy, or couldn't be bothered. Then I tried it. I liked it. One of the best moves I ever made. Now, I don't mod without it.

Well, I'm doing this mod for 5 years now and I guess about 95% of the crashes were from typos and oversights on my part due to the complex interactions of the the 500+ events and other new features.

About 4% are from users who forgot to update to the latest version or who update a game in progress - something I've warned against again and again in big red letters in the starting post, in the manual and elsewhere, still it happens. I also make sure that users only get access to download only the most recent update.

Maybe 1% of all problems come from users who copied the new update into the wrong folder, with Unwichtig in the clear lead right now. Since he managed to do so correctly before he's probably kind of worn out from all the battles so extended R&R is well advised. :mrgreen:

As for the JSGME tool: I don't know why, but after a test using the "compare" function of the vanilla data files with Potzblitz data files, it destroyed both installations, so I had to reinstall.
Other users might find it useful though but from me it's thanks, but no thanks. :?

Hi Robotron, I'm enjoying a lot your mod these holidays :D Something strange happens with my game, is winter 1914 and I've been attacking Verdun for many turns, but the unit defending the hex don't lose any strenght point althought the outcome of the attacks is the unit loses many streght points. Why happens this?

Hi Kossatx, long time no see.

The reason for what you are experiencing is the "Sacred Way" event played by Entente, representing the continuous flow of reinforcements to Verdun.

I've included the event to prevent Verdun from getting captured way too early and without much problems.

As CP you now must play the "Siege of Verdun" event to cancel this effect or ignore Verdun in the meantime.
"Siege of Verdun" will be in CP event pool as early as 1915 if Falkenhayn is unlocked and at least 3 German units are in France and at least 2 German units are adjacent to Verdun.

Cutting off Verdun from supply was the other option to end the "Sacred Way" but it looks like I forgot to included the necessary checks...oh well, there's always V11.2

Do you think it is too powerful for Entente to have a invincible fortress for a limited time?

Oh, I didn't know. I think is a good idea for your mod, the only "but" is I prefer little probabilities than impossibilities, so I woult rather like to put (for example) a +2 strenght and a +2 efficiency level per turn to the unit in Verdun than make the unit invulnerable. By the way, where is this rule script for Verdun?

The function that makes the Verdun unit temporarily invincible is in game_events.lua in

Note however that this is function's name ends with (attacker/defender), this means the function gets triggered NOT at the start of the turn but at each attack at the Verdun hex.

Also note that the game handles unit-efficiency and unit-strength not in 1-10 but in 1-100. This might be new to you.
The player only gets to see these "real" values divided by 10 and rounded up.

Ok Robotron, thanks! Now, playing the game, France has ceded Tunissia to Italy but some hexes remain french (inlcuded Tunis), It seems a bug but I don't know :? Also, is middle 1915 playing with CP and MP for AH and GER have raised a lot and I haven't noticed why. AH was over 1300 MP begining 1915 and now has 1600, ang GER was 1650 and now is 2100 :shock:

And other question, don't you think it woluld be a good idea to do an script to assign hexes when a country surrenders? Many times the frontiers become very strange and unrealistic. The more difficult to do with this is to assign different hexes assignements depending to which countries have defeated the surrendering one.
