So spacing those out a week feels like it would smooth out the game flow because by the time the second set of two games starts, you should already be in the relatively quicker phase of the first set of two games.
I guess so, yes.

Well the most obvious suggestion would be an epic Swifter than Eagles tournament, where Demigods ride their chariots to glory and bloody ruin of the enemy!

A Slitherine team competition.

Teams of 4, balanced total ranking, over 5 rounds as usual, proscribed mirror matches as usual.

Say there were 100 entries. By ranking, entries 1-25 are player 1, 26-50 are player 2, 51-75 are player 3 and 76-100 are player 4.
The first team is entries 1, 50, 51 & 100.
Second team is entries 2, 49, 52 & 99.
Third team is entries 3, 48, 53 & 98.
and so on.

Each round the Player 1's play each other, player 2's play each other, player 3's play each other and player 4's play each other. So everyone is always playing an opponent who is reasonably close to their own ranking.
Teams are ordered by their total team score for the match up next round, as usual.

Advantages over the current system:
There are going to be less total mismatches in the first few rounds than there are now.
5 rounds with maybe 25-50 teams is going to work well with Swiss and have some close matchups for positions in the later rounds. 5 rounds with 200 entries as we have now is not enough, really we should be having 8-10 rounds for a Swiss but I can fully understand why Slitherine stick to a maximum of 5.
Hopefully less players would drop out or abandon games with having more closer matches and interest being maintained in the team scores.

Disadvantages.
If a team member dropped out it is going to be disappointing for the rest of their team.
The last 1-3 entries are not going to get to participate if entries are not a multiple of 4. And probably having subs is not going to be viable if the system is fully automated.

I’d like medals shown on user profile and/or a table.

My suggestions:

1. Round time and time limit change: 21 days. 14 days is not enough.
2. ...unless insufficient turns have been played: If the timed-out player has played less than 18 turns.
Too many, it is unfair to the player. I propose 12 rounds.
