Re: Calling MadMaxBot . . .

OK thanks, Karvon.

This is what is going to happen. MadMaxBot has completed 4 matches in Classical Antiquity and 3 matches in Biblical so he can continue in those sections as his results are going to stand anyway. In Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages he has only completed 2 matches in both sections and has 1 match in progress in both (very slow play). So I am going to remove him from both these two sections provided I can get late replacements. I will go through the reserve lists today and see if there is anyone who wants to play. There are still 5 weeks of the tournament left and completing 9 matches is possible in that time.

Challenge1 has won Classical Antiquity Division D!

Post by stockwellpete »

In a tightly fought three-way contest, spoiled by elrawen's recent disappearance, Challenge1 has won Classical Antiquity Division D by 1 point with his unbeaten Roman army. Well played Challenge1! :D

Pete - I don’t want to unnecessarily complicate things but the case of MadMaxBot also right now impacts (potentially) the top of the table. I wasn’t going to say anything, hoping he would finally play his last turn or two, but I have essentially beat him in EMA. I think it 58-30 or something close and he may lose just going into the turn he hasn’t touched in 5-6 days. It’s also over a month now since the match began (he’s clearly made a point of playing 1 turn every 4-7 days but that can keep it going for a long time). I’m not sure what you want to do.

Hi Pete. If you run out of reserves, need to find a quick solution, and it works that I'm unavailable August 7-15, I can jump in at short notice to any of the eras, but preferably the 1200FP/Medium Classical Antiquity and
Late Antiquity. I'm a newbie though.

Season 8 is almost finished, K! Other tournaments are starting up like Chaos, etc.

It is as complicated and as close to the wire as it can be really, but the match is not actually finished until he makes his next move (unless he gets rallies and it continues even further) and you are not yet in a position to use the in-game facility to claim a stalled match where no move has been made for 7 days. So he had not completed 3 matches at the time I made the decision this morning to seek a replacement under Rule 6. In addition, it is obvious to me now that he is not likely to complete his matches in any section that he has entered so it is in the wider interest of the tournament that I remove him from Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages so that the players in his divisions get a full set of 9 matches as promised at the start of the season.

Ah, so August absence may not be an issue then. Thanks, S! But I thought I saw Pete offer reserve spot as late as today actually?

I will bear it in mind but I think it might be better for you to wait until Season 9 now, particularly as you will be away for the last week of the tournament. It would mean you having to complete 9 matches in just over 3 weeks and to do that you would need to start all nine matches almost immediately. Thanks for offering though. :D
