Re: GJS'44 - D-Day Orders for June 6th

Post by GottaLove88s »

Commanders, Soldiers... Here are the consolidated orders for June 6th...
Wow, this was unexpected... Ballsy... It's going to make for an interesting start to the campaign...

Before reporting the moves, I remind Commanders of the following rules:

8.2 All units must be able to trace a continuous path of controlled sectors to a source of supplies.
8.21 German BGs can be supplied from either Villers Bocage or Vimont, provided that the supplying sector is held by the Germans.
8.22 New German BGs arrive in Villers Bocage or Vimont fully supplied for one day.
8.23 Allied BGs can be supplied from any of Gold, Juno or Sword beach, provided that the supplying sector is held by the Allies.
8.24 Beach landing Allied BGs, including commandos, arrive on the beach fully supplied for one day.
8.3 Out of supply BGs suffer severe penalties.
8.31 The base morale for all units in an "out of supply" BG is reduced by 25.

DICE:
Germans moved first

MOVES BY COMMANDER PRIORITY:

G1. 857/346 defends Gold
A1. 69/50 lands on Sword

G2. 858/346 defends Ouistreham
A2. 7/3cdn lands on Juno

G3. 915/352 defends Merville/Franceville
A3. 8/3 lands on Gold

G4. 914/352 defends Pegasus Bridge
A4. 3/6ab paradrops into Vimont

G5. I/736/716 defends Sword
A5. 5al/6 glides into Villers-Bocage

G6. II/736/716 defends Juno

G7. II/726/716 defends Hillman

G8. II/744/711 defends Bayeux

G9. Ost 642/716 defends Caen

G10. Ost 411/716 defends Colombelles

BATTLES & BONUSES: June 6th... aka Brummbar's Gambit*

Gold - 8/3 (Nil bonuses) AFD v 857/346 (Arty, Medic, Rally, Promote, Resupply)
Sword - 69/50 (Naval Arty, Medic, Rally) AFD v I/736/716 (Arty, Promote, Resupply)
Juno - 7/3cdn (Naval Arty, Medic, Rally) AFD v II/736/716 (Arty, Promote, Resupply)
Vimont - 3/6ab takes this sector unchallenged
Villers-Bocage - 5al/6 takes this sector unchallenged

Your games will be ready to play within 24 hours...

*Quoting Lt Cmdr George Honour, captain of the X23 midget submarine, observing Ouistreham harbour on the night of June 5th: "Our little operation was called Gambit. It was all part of the bigger operation and when we were given the code name we looked it up in the dictionary and to our horror it said, 'the pawn you throw away before a big move in chess,' which didn't encourage us too much..."

Happy hunting gentlemen! ;-)

Brummbar, Pls would you update the Strat Campaign Map with these deployments and battles.

Pls also add small black crosses to all of the German sectors (or small Brit roundels to show control of Vimont and Villers-Bocage). Either, or, your choice... Thx for your help! :-)

* Intriguing move into V and VB! But I wouldn't get too comfortable if I were you... it's going to get mighty messy back there, lol...
* 8/3 faces tough odds versus a well bonused up regular infantry division.
* To be honest, I'm not sure how 69/50 and 7/3cdn will work out versus Volksgrenadiers... My expectation was it would probably take a one, two punch from two Allied BGs landing on the same beach... but a good player might just pull it off...

Jon, quick question in regards to the V an BV landings...I thought these areas were the "Larger" double sectors...and that you need 2 BGs to actually secure these...I like your "Commentary" with the landings, A/C Recon...nice...;)

V, VB and Carpiquet are all shown as larger sectors because of their importance, but for the purposes of the Campaign, they're all still single sectors. To be honest, I hadn't anticipated this Allied move, but here's how it plays out for you guys...

3/6ab and 5al/6 take control of V and VB. That means that all German BGs will be "out of supply" for June 7th (it's fiendishly clever actually). BUT, and here's the big but, the German BGs due to arrive June 7th still arrive, ie. 125/21Pz, 192/21Pz, I/22/21Pz, II/22/21Pz. Germans can assign these to either V or VB. There is no limitation on the number of German BGs that can be in either of these two sectors (it's your equivalent of Allied beach landings).

So 3/6ab and 5al/6 will face sequential AFDs versus your new arrivals...

Best case for the Germans, the Allies could lose two useful para BGs by delaying 21Pz for only one turn.
Worst case for the Germans, the Allies lock out supplies to Normandy, gain critical morale advantages for a mass beach landing on June 7th, and inflict painful losses on 21Pz through AFDs in V and VB.

It's an intriguing start... totally unanticipated by any of us I expect...

To be fair to the Allies, they're just knocking out the two key roads through which all reinforcements/supplies have to come.
Right now, the Allies have no reinforcement/resupply sectors. They have to earn them. You guys got yours for free...
It will get messy June 7th tho...

Please would somebody add an .LST so that we can all download to any platform, including those darned iPads, lol

It doesn't matter which side sets up the challenge, so long as everyone picks the correct beach...
REMEMBER TO STOP AFTER THE GERMAN PLAYER'S TURN WHICH SHOWS "Turns Remaining 3"...

Yup, I meant the men that are commanding those legions :). We know our order of battle, that's why I was asking.

Jon, Can you place the folder in MP and leave the "Old" GJS....Or, do we have to remove that one from MP Folder first??
Also....Whats the deal with AB Group 6/6...I dont see it mentioned?? Reserve??
Mike
P.S. Yes...to reiterate what kingt is saying...not sure who is commanding unit that is attacking where I am at...so, how do we know who to email to set up game/password.
Jon, please post who is in command of what units...Or, atleast have the GM's know so they can contact the players and tell them who to email for games. ;)
P.P.S. Jon...what do I do with the file you put up on dropbox?? It is not a self contained GJS44 Folder...do I just add this file to existing old GJS Folder??
Not sure what to do, this is not like the others that we would get. just shows up white on desktop and is labeled GJS44.CPF

I think iPad players need the CPF file and then the LST file while everyone else needs a ZIP with the files to upload to their BA installations.

The LST file for June6 would look something like this:
FILENAME GJS44June6.LST

[0]
NAME GJS44.CPF
SHOWNAME GJS44 June 6 Battles
DESC GJS44 June 6 Battles
MAKER kingt
TYPE 1
SIZE 1.8
#URL http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31228617/BA/GJS ... 4.CPF?dl=1
But someone needs to make it and upload it somewhere so iPad users can get it.

Ok guys,

1. Run BA on your Mac, PC or iPad
2. Choose Campaigns (at the bottom)
3. Choose Download Community Scenarios (at the top)
4. Choose Download a Campaign Package from the Internet (top right)
5. Type http://bit.ly/BA88gjs into the URL box
6. Click the green tick
7. Back at the campaigns list, select "GJS44 Campaign - June 6th" and click Download the Selected Campaign (bottom centre)
8. This should download everything that you need
9. Go back to the first page of BA and choose Multiplayer
10. Log in to Multiplayer as normal
11. Either go to the My Challenges tab and click the New Challenge arrow. This list will now show the GJS'44 Normandy Campaign... three new beaches
12. Or go to the Accepts Challenges tab and click the beach that you're supposed to be fighting on (if your opponent has already setup your game)

After all that, you can play GJS'44 on any platform... Phew!!

Hey guys,

I was just about to say that I have created the LST file and uploaded it on the iPad successfully.

I have created the Gold game (pass "gold6" without the quotes) where I'll be waiting for my German opponent.

But it looks like Gotta beat me to it. Anyway, iPad users, everything works, let's fight!

Command for the Allies is...

8/3 - KingT
69/50 - Justin
7/3cdn - Random27

Good luck all!

(for future game reference...I think the Axis should have a set up option...either they go with an historical set up and earn beach battles as AFD or they can opt to put units wherever they like and get ASD on the landing beaches. Otherwise, why wouldn't the Axis player assign their toughest units to the beaches they know the allies are coming into?)
