I'm proud to announce the first point of Europe vs the British Isles!

After a bitter and prolonged fight the Gepids, having chased the Huns on the narrow strip of hilly and rough terrain present on one side of the map, where their lances where of little use in the impact phase, finally broke the enemy resistence due only to sheer brute force.

Thanks to Eric for the very exciting match were he valiantly led an inferior army to nearly catch a great victory exploiting to the best the little patch of advantageous terrain.

Unfortunately I don't have equally good news to report...
I deployed my forces poorly and Triarius have made good use of that.
He have 4 commanders, one of which is inspired. I have only 3 troop commanders and the fact that one of them died instantly on first impact doesn't help...
Still rather early but he have a 6-7 points lead and my whole left flank is doomed, about 6 BG.
I might be able to do something similar to his left flank but I'm far from certain on that. No, situation is precarious I'm afraid.

My valiant Romans have pulled their act together(somewhat) and the hope I had of thrashing the Gepid left flank have started to come true.
My left is in tatters as predicted and the last remains will probably rout next turn...5-6 BP lost.
The standings are; Romans 32/51 vs Gepids 38/50. It will be very close and one or two lucky/unlucky dice can mean everything!

The Gepids capitalized on the poor Roman deployment early on. A desperate strugle to catch up were made possible by a couple of lucky turns half way through.
The Romans got ahead but for a couple of easy points when Gepid LF inexplicably got stucked the victory would have been hard to achieve!

Sharkall (Visigoths) 44/70 vs maharg25 (FR West) 52/48

The Visigoths didn't bother to take all their armor in battle today, thinking that a picnic in the forest would be more to their taste. However, the only cover they found were a couple of lakes with some marshes nearby, quite centrally on the map. While trying to secure them and going round to threaten the romans' back, they met their first picnic guests: armored and heavy armored cavalry. Supported by luck (and some HF), and willingly sacrificing themselves, they managed to keep the romans busy while superior numbers on the other flank made the victory possible.
