Normans
King Che's Normans are doing well although its more due to luck than skilful play. That's not to say the Norman play has been poor but rather that the panther play has been better. Pretty early on the Byzantines lost 2 generals in consecutive turns, first the right wing sub, and then in the next turn the inspired CiC. It's not often that 2 CiC's engage in a personal duel. The Norman commander charged the Byzantine general and skewered the Roman on his the knightly lance. It's turn 7 or 8 with the Normans up by a handful of points. Just over half of the points have been lost something like mid twenties to high twenties is the score.
Byzantines
The less said the better. Panthers Normans in front by a handful however with very good prospects. It's also turn 7 or 8 but the losses so far are light something like 10 to 5 as the Byzantines refused the right flank but in doing so got dizzy and confused while the Normans marched forward with optimal positioning.

davouthojo vs hidde
We got off to a quick start, but I was delayed the last few days.
So we are currently on Turn 3, with both sides following similar strategies, trying to race as many troops as we can onto the big hill, jockeying a little to try to get favorable match-ups. There is definitely a rock paper scissors element to this scenario....Varangians can beat spears, spears can beat knights, knights can beat Varangians (at least on impact!)......someone fiendishly clever must have created these scenarios.......
Contact in the next 2 turns, with similar strategies, might come down to better tactics.....

So...now we know who awaits one of us in the final. No surprise there
Sorry, but it will probably take some time before we know who it will be.
Davouthojo is back after the brief hiatus but I'll leave town tomorrow for about two weeks.
I can play at the other location but it will be a bit slower than usual.

davouthojo vs hidde
The fights for the hill is on!
My Normans have had the most luck so far.
The start for the Byzantines is not too shabby neither but their position is a bit more vulnerable...
Byzantines (hidde) 3/42 vs Normans (davouthojo) 10/41
Normans (hidde) 9/41 vs Byzantines (davouthojo) 27/42

The tournament foresees the delivery (obviously in an abstract way!Congratulations to the finalists.
Hojo, would you like to play off for third?
No need to fight again for having it!
In the meanwhile my best wishes to the two great finalists, being aware that the fight will be strenuous ..
Let's keep informed of the unfolding events.

I've been busy the last few days and didn't want to make a sloppy start so I haven't sent my first turns yet.
In a couple of hours I will be sitting on the train on my way back home. Then I'm all ready.
pantherboy (Mongols) 2/40 – hidde (Mamluks) 2/45
pantherboy (Mamluks) 5/45 – hidde (Mongols) 7/40
Close and exciting!? No, not really...
My Mongols is a disaster waiting to happen. It will be quick and bloody.
The Mamluks is clearly the stronger side so with them I have a fair chance still.
That one is still open but even if a victory is possible the numbers will be nothing like the other game...

Thank's to hidde for updating the situation promptly, despite how painful it could be
But fighting with the Panther in the final for the gold medal should ease the sorrow ..
at least, hidde, you are the best in the tournament among the normal players!

First game is over(I inflicted two more bp).
pantherboy have a small lead in the second one and is making it very difficult for me most everywhere
on a very outspread battlefield.
I'm doing some pretty wild and desperate stuff since as usual his missile fire is highly accurate!
