Knockout Competition

Post by ericdoman1 »

Hi Matt

Yep I'm up for it. No idea what armies to choose from yet as I have never played a 700pt game before. 500pt is my limit. 700pts limits any element of surprise I think and some armies can not field 700pt armies. Noticed there are 2 Mid Bosporan, 1 Later Jewish Hyrcanus and a post Seleucid. I'll wait a bit if that's Ok. There are still a lot of armies available but too many choices. Is it 15 August for deadline. Is that the game or the army?

Cheers

Eric

PS Being Welsh how are the Welsh doing in the semis.

Just so I understand , the ror/if tourney will be 700 ap's from a list from those two expansions? Will players be lined up per expansion or will the two books be "heaped together"

Well, I guess I'll post my choice before the answer as its all good in the hood.

Pyrrics (just plain vanilla Phyrrics)

Edit:
hmm 690 ap's is the max for this list , he he, no element of surprise for what I'll be fielding

Anyone interested in taking part in a 700pt Rise of Rome and Immortal Fire tourney, please post your list choices here and please be specific where their are various options for a list, will aim for 16 players if their is the interest, on a first come first serve basis.

cheers
Matt
I'll play. I'll stick with my favourite Later Seleucid (RoR). :)

Eric - if you wish to play then you'll need to make a choice and post it here to the forum, already have nine players signed up with another just needing to post their choice, so we may have the full sixteen fairly soon...

TheGrayMouser - Yes it's 700pt armies from either Rise of Rome or Immortal Fire, all lists will be drawn against any of the other choices.

Morbio - Presume you want the post 166BC option?

cheers

Ok for ROR Post (Later) Seleucid at 700 pts. Hopefully it's OK seen 2 mid Bosporan. Apologies for stupidity but you need a 700 pt army from each of the lists IF and ROR. Or is it one army from either list for a 700pt KO comp?

Put me down for a 700pt Gupta Indian army. I like to stay in the jungles :D

Steve

PS: andersm73 aren't you gonna play in any of these?

Eric - It is just the one list from either RoR or IF.

Steve - I prefer not to play so I am impartial to any decisions that need to be made and I'm neutral when making the R1 draw. If we get to fifteen players and no joy for the sixteenth I'd step in though...

cheers

My dear andersm73

After a break, I come again. Well I must confess that it is difficult to know what happen in the tournament ? what new one is organized ? Yes I give you a critic but it is a friendly one ! I think that one post by tournament would be better.

Anyway, so far I understand the last posts you organized a new tournament on IF. I am voulunteer, so far the tournament will begin after August 25 (I will be out of town from August 14 to 25. For the army, I would prefer the lydians of Cresus but if this army is not convenient, choose the army for me -)

Sorry for Ianow for his defeat with Parthians and congratulations to his opponent.

All the best

Im sorry I got your army slaughtered Yann! Morbio used his army superbly and his tactics were spot on (I won't go into detail incase he wishes to use the same tactics against his next opponent).

Bottom line is that I have not learned to command Cavalry armies yet! I like playing barbarians too much hehe.

Yann - I'll put you down for the Lydians, it's 700pt armies from either RoR or IF. Didn't realise it was that confusing to follow the recent posts for the latest tourney, both the previous tourneys are still ongoing though so perhaps that doesn't help. Maybe sticking to one tourney at a time would be easier all round in the future.

cheers

I'm not sure I'd go that far  all I can say is that the tactics used were the result of a lot of beatings from Iversonjm and a lot practice of various tactics with Deeter. This was the 1st time I've managed a victory against Bosporans so I was very pleased :D

Currently have twelve players for the Rise of Rome / Immortal Fire 700pt tourney, thirteen if iversonjm submits his list choice, so hopefully not far off starting it.

I'm sorry to burst you bubble, but I was playing Parthians, not Bospos. Yann beat my bospos in the first round and due to his holiday plans he gaave me his victorius army to carry on the competition with. So I'm afraid your first victory over your hated enemy is still to come

ps I am currently using your pike army tactics vs a Sarmatian army and not doing too badly. [My old maths teacher was wrong: I DO learn, I CAN be taught!] lol

So I have Morbio to blame for your performance! Grrrr

ps Don't lump the early Sarmatians in with those frightful Bosporans and their all stinging (medium) cavalry.

Damn, my memory is fading  it's an age / alcohol thing  . The sad thing is that I used the same tactics against Iversonjm after and lost again, although I felt it was my best showing against Bosporans. It was going well until my right flank collapsed... it got drawn into fighting on top of a hill with steep sides and not really suitable, but you can't always choose where to fight battles.

Is that AD or BC? Just wondering if I should expect to be facing space ships or Old Kingdom men with stone heavy weapons ;)?
