Armchairbaron's advance on Ravenna with Byzantines, was successfully blocked by Stew101 (Vandals).

The result was a draw: 0% scored by the Byzantines and a whole 2% managed by the Vandals.

Simon (Byzantines) opted to attack into wooded terrain, an understandable choice, given the Vandals could field not infantry. Simon got what he asked for, plenty of woods, but all in the wrong places. The Byzantines flanks were both secured by large woods and there was also plenty at the rear of the Vandal position. Unfortunately the entire centre of the table was dominated by large hills on both sides, with a narrow valley between.

Neither side could really attack the other sides position, with a realistic hope of success. The Byzantines did try to push their small number of superior light horse archers around the flanks, but the vandals had enough light horse and spare lancers to neutralise this threat.

heidipie Franks edged out Armchaibaron 48 to 53 in a flat out brawl could have gone either way. the difference was the unexpectedly higher moral rolls then justified by the Frankis sub Roman foot, which sent off just enugh enemy horse to make for the Victory Margin
