Morat Byzantine 571-579 with German Horse Tribe draws with Karvon Ancient British: Morat scored 51, Karvon scored 50.

Enormously enjoyable game against a highly skilled opponent. First few turns involved the Byzantines bumping into Britains who seemly came out of no-where. Battle turned into two brawls - on the hills where the Byzantines got the upper hand and on the plains - where the British light and chariots caused mayhem. In the end darkness intervened to separate the sides.

A risky but successful charge by the Mongol horde on the right flank gave them the upper hand before the Byzantines could establish themselves on the central hills. A few fights could have easily gone the other way and led to defeat. Good game!

A fairly big open plain meant that we just went at each other. The legions proved to be superior to the warbands and the Samnites. My cheap legions were decimated but their noble deaths allowed the rest of the army to defeat enough troops to win the day.

The Rus concentrated their cavalry left of a wood and met the German knights there for much archery and chasing. The Rus generally got the better of these exchanges.
In the centre, the Rus infantry huddled behind their wagon defences in fear of a huge mass of Germanic spear and crossbows. The Rus infantry more or less hung on with Rus cavalry appearing behind the enemy to win the day.
