Just to let my opponents know, I am off to sunny Spain for the next 5 days.
And I will be doing my best to avoid any armoured Almughavars over there.

Division B
macsen (Ancient British) 43/45 defeated kmaher (Ptolemaic Successor) 34/34
kmaher won iniative and chose a nice plain for his lancers and pikes, and not a swamp to be seen. Fortunately there were three small woods running down one side of the field and there the Brits ran and hid, only to find one of the woods full of Egyptians, who fought like Egyptians and ran off the field. The rest of the battle turned into a brutal slugging match around two of the woods, while most of the lancers tried to get at some foot hiding behind a trench on the other side of the map. Finally though the Brits had some luck and managed to snatch victory form what should have been a draw at least. Funniest bit was a lone pike who spent the whole game chasing a lone light archer with half the field to themselves

Cheers

Re: Eternal Empire: arrange your matches here . . .
You may start your Quarter-final paired matches on Sunday 3rd November and you have 14 days in which to complete them. The armies you will be using are Early Medieval Germans (no Swiss allies) and Hussites (Polish allies may be selected).
A few screenshots of the rarely used Hussites would be great.

Jan Hus (1369 – 1415) was a Czech priest, philosopher, reformer, and master at Charles University in Prague. After John Wycliffe, the theorist of ecclesiastical Reformation, Hus is considered the first Church reformer, as he lived before Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli.
He was burned at the stake for heresy against the doctrines of the Catholic Church, including those on ecclesiology, the Eucharist, and other theological topics. Hus was a key predecessor to the Protestant movement of the sixteenth century, and his teachings had a strong influence on the states of Europe, most immediately in the approval of a reformist Bohemian religious denomination, and, more than a century later, on Martin Luther himself.
After his death, between 1420 and 1431, followers of Hus's religious teachings (known as Hussites) rebelled against their Roman Catholic rulers and defeated five consecutive papal crusades in what became known as the Hussite Wars. A century later, as many as 90% of inhabitants of the Czech lands were non-Catholic and followed the teachings of Hus and his successors.

Classical Antiquity round up
Slow progress in Division A at the moment but things should pick up in the next few weeks as the group stages of the Eternal Empire event are finished and The Slitherine Trophy is coming to its conclusion. CheAhn is the early pace-setter with 6 wins and 2 defeats and he is followed by ericdoman1 with 4 wins and just 1 defeat. Morbio is third with 3 wins and 2 defeats. Sharkall and ianiow have barely started their fixtures yet but are likely to put in strong challenges in due course.
It is difficult to know what to make of Division B where everyone seems to be capable of beating everyone else? Fellow-organiser Turk1964 has made it to the top this morning but the situation could changeas soon as the next result is posted. 5 or 6 players could still win this division and maybe the best placed candidate is Ironclad who, despite being in 7th place, has registered 3 wins and 1 defeat so far.
In Division C, the main struggle is now for the runners-up position and this is being contested by mcfcivo (5 wins in a row!), maulet and george123. warmonger2450, tullius and Supervark are involved in a desperate scrap at the bottom to avoid relegation.
In Division D, nothing much has changed this week although teletabicus has registered another victory to bring him a bit closer to Cunningcairn at the top of the table. Remember only teletabicus can overtake Cunningcairn now and prevent him from winning this division.
Some statistics
Unbeaten runs currently in progress (3 games or more)
ericdoman1 – 3 games
CheAhn - 3 games
cavehobbit - 3 games
epos - 3 games
Ironclad - 3 games
Greetings44 - 8 games
mcfcivo – 5 games
mchargmg – 4 games
Match completion in this section is still slow in the A division but excellent in the other 4 divisions after 5 weeks (each division has 45 matches to be played)
Div A 16/45
Div B 34/45
Div C 34/45
Div D 28/45

Early Middle Ages round up
Only a couple of results in Division A this week and two wins for Jonathan4290 which sees him move off the bottom of the table and into the middle. ericdoman is top with 5 wins and 1 defeat but there is a chasing pack of 3 unbeaten players, ianiow, hidde and Tiavals. Mercifully, the wretched Lombard campaign of King Liutprang has ended (what was I thinking of?
) and I will finish bottom unless Turk1964 loses his last 5 games (quite possible
 ).
In Division B, steve-h8 has secured the top position and automatic promotion and CharlesWayneRobinson will finish second. At the bottom, voskarp is heroically trying to maintain the new tradition of tournament organisers getting relegated in this section.

Little development in Division C this week other than Cunningcairn has replaced the non-starter, Turkoman. Okie is currently top of the table but Tullius is still unbeaten with 3 straight wins. Things should pick up now as Cunningcairn gets stuck into his matches and this could still be a very exciting division.
In Division D, mchargmg is still top with 5 wins and 2 defeats but he is closely followed by otbc, teletabicus and Breogan. Brenmusik has won his only match and may still put in a challenge as soon as he gets his matches underway again.
