PS. Dormant or semi-active players can get their games by 'borrowing' BGs from their usual leader.
Or 'special advisers' can be brought in for particularly challenging missions...

Rio de Janeiro? Or Monsieur Guadeloupe?
South Carolina actually. Just north of Fort Jackson appropriately enough. I can hear their artillery fire most days.
My neck of the woods...but I'm a bit North... North Carolina

That seems like an improvement at this point, yup.
I'd be in. I see I am still over-rated in the rankings! lol.
Hope I do not face MLazar out there, unless he's out of supply.

I like that idea but not to the extreme, meaning i Will asign one BG to each participant because is fun but i Will leave the rest of the BGs Free to be asigned by the commanders so we can have involved all the participants.

Don't worry Justin, Lt Gen Mlazar outranks you as Maj Gen Jcb989 by one star...
Fight him at sea instead! I've sunk two of his BB's... Sadly, he's about to dive bomb my carrier to pieces...

Don't worry JC... Assign BG's as Players/Commanders see fit... Suck it and see... If it works, you can give extra BGs to players who want more... You can always keep a pool of spare BG's (maybe the elites?) so everyone gets a game... It's good to avoid leaving anyone out... June 10th is going to create lots of opportunities, I suspect (hahaHAAA, evil laughter ;-))

This is a fun idea. JC and I talked about this earlier. My only objection was that some players wouldn't get the chance to play as much as others. But with a pool of spare BGs this wouldn't be much of a problem.

I also like JC's initiative to give BGs nicknames, like 858/346 "Der Haifische" (The Sharks).

Neat trick to stay on top of Team Chat...

If you go to your team's top folder,
Here for Allies -> viewforum.php?f=216
Here for Germans -> viewforum.php?f=217

Scroll down to the bottom of the page. There is a horizontal grey bar across the page. It should say "Board Index" on the left, and then "Subscribe to forum" with a green tick box.

Click "Subscribe to forum". Click "Yes" to the confirmation question (if it asks you).

Now whenever any of your team mates adds anything to your private forum, including new threads, you will be notified.

Enjoy!

PLAYER VOTE: READ BELOW

Gents,

Some of us are playing the Carpiquet airfield map in the Normandy Ninjas tourney... The map itself is challenging, at least it is from the direction that the Allies come at it for the tourney (but you guys are all experts at picking the best approach routes to target sectors by now, right? ;-)).

However, other than the problems posed by the map/approach, an important issue is that Tigers and Panthers working as a team completely outclass the Allied tanks, despite giving the Allies significant numerical superiority (24 Allied tanks to 8 Germans in the tourney game).

To keep GJS'44 fun as we get into the arrival of MUCH stronger German heavy tanks... here's a proposal, which I'd like all players/commanders to vote on...

VOTE: Carpiquet airfield has a bonus impact for the Germans (if the Germans lose Carpiquet, they lose their Fw190s). I want to add an extra sweetener for the Allies, so that if the Allies take Carpiquet their Typhoon ground attack aircraft recycle time will be reduced from 3 turns (normal) to 2 (with Carpiquet). The Allies will lose this bonus if they lose Carpiquet, but if they hold it, they have it. YES or NO?

In reality, this would increase the maximum number of Typhoon strikes per 20 turn battle, from 5 strikes (3 turn wait, plus 1 turn assignment, divided into 20) to 6 (2 turn wait, plus 1 turn assignment), but over the course of the campaign these extra strikes should be worth having. Sometimes they get shot down. Sometimes they do nothing except miss and reveal recon. Sometimes, as in a current game with Arcticpost, he can bag a Tiger and a Panther at the same time, because I was foolish enough to park them back to back...

Votes and thoughts please gentlemen?

GM has been asked a question on how Abbaye plays out. The answer is more complex than I realised, so I'm repeating it here for everyone...

Why June 9th AM battle is being fought as an ASD: Ost 411/716 intercepted 8/3cdn on its way to Caen (a safer way for Allies to make this move would have been for 27/3 to move to Abbaye first, attacking anything that moved there as an ME, and then for 8/3cdn to pass through a secured Abbaye afterwards, to pass safely into Caen... for next time)

Outcome 1: If Ost 411/716 wins, 8/3cdn has nowhere to withdraw to and is dissolved. 27/3 carries out its attack vs survivors of Ost 411/716.

Outcome 2: If 8/3cdn wins, Ost 411/716 retreats to Putot-en-Bessin. 27/3's move is cancelled because there is already an Allied BG in Abbaye. II/726/716 enters Abbaye and fights the survivors of 8/3cdn as an ME (both BGs arriving in the sector during the same turn) NB. Incidentally, if 27/3 had made its attack on Abbaye as an Attack/No Move, that would have been permitted.

Moves are strictly processed in their priority order (see below)
Team orders for June 9th wrote:Germans won the dice throw and make the first move

1st. Ost 411/716 (???) moves to Abbaye d'Ardenne
1. 8/3Cdn moves to Caen via Hermanville then Abbaye d'Ardenne and merges with 6AL/6

2nd. ...
2. ...

3rd. ...
3. 27/3 moves to Abbaye d'Ardenne

4th. II/726/716 (???) moves to Abbaye d'Ardenne and hopefully merge with Ost 411/716
4. ...

AH, I see what you mean now! If 8/3cdn wins in Abbaye, 27/3 can't enter Abbaye, so its move is cancelled, therefore 27/3 would remain in the last sector before its route became blocked (ie. Hermanville). Backing up, 27/3 would then block 22/7 from entering Hermanville, so 22/7 would have to stop at Tailleville...

An illustration of dissolution losses for GJS'44 Campaign newbies...

Example: If 8/3cdn loses in Abbaye d'Ardenne, the BG has nowhere to retreat to and would therefore be dissolved

8/3cdn's full force selection pool (including any units not in the battle) is 1x Eng, 2x HMG, 2x Scouts, 1x PIAT, 2x Mortars, 2x 17pdr, 2x 6pdr, 2x Roo transport, 1x M5 recon, 2x M10, 1x Sherman (18 units).

Dissolution would kill 10% of whatever remains in the full pool after the battle, so assuming zero losses, it's 0.1 Eng, 0.2 HMG, 0.2 Scouts, 0.1 PIAT, 0.2 Mortar, 0.2 17pdr, 0.2 6pdr, 0.2 Roo, 0.1 M5, 0.2 M10, 0.1 Sherman... but because these are rounded up, dissolution actually culls 1 Eng, 1 HMG, 1 Scout, 1 PIAT, 1 Mortar, 1 17pdr, 1 6pdr, 1 Roo, 1 M5, 1 M10, 1 Sherman (ie.11 of 18 units, leaving only 7 survivors)... OUCH!

Lesson 1. Always consider withdrawal routes to avoid accidental dissolution
Lesson 2. Try to surround your enemy to deny him withdrawal routes and force dissolutions

In this situation, losing anything less than 11 units in battle, if it achieved a win and avoided dissolution, should be considered a success...

Was monitoring the team threads and could see that this needed clarification... Good luck to both sides!
