Mac, any hint on what your Strat moves might be next?? I know that we need to know outcome of this battle, but must be other areas of interest on Strat map...an what you were thinking about doing...;)

The good news is, I have thought ahead and have set up a couple potential maps where I suspect battles may occur...so we'll be good to go once results are in...I'll be going with what we have soon but I'll give it a little more time since Morge and jcb989 sound so close to the end of theirs.

Regardless of what happens, the next battles will be better with the improvements (ie. artillery, force selection, oh, and I've given recon vehicles better recon abilities as well)...should be fun.

I have seen you mention about playing other games...I played memoir44 online also..Havent played in while. Not much content has been added. They are missing the boat on that one...and they charge to play(stupid) If you pay...49-59 bucks for a game...you should own it. please...
Did you ever play "Blitzkrieg" RTS?? Used to play that alot back in the day. Now that I have gotten older...I tend to like the turnbased...easier to play then click fest...lol
I play PCO...but, havent in a while. Used to play alot with "JMASS"...but, he has been busy play testing some game.
Cant wait for the Eastern Front BA...That is my favorite Theatre...and am pretty stoked about this one. ;)
Just wanted to say thanks again for letting me be a part of this neat idea you are doing.

JCB as Germans has taken the vital supply flag from the US and in so doing took most of the US units also. + one last Sherman on the last turn not in the list below...

Great! Thanks guys.

So here are the potentials for the random results roll...
1,6 = KingT v B'44
2,7 = B'44 v k9mike
3,8 = k9mike v KingT
4,9 = morge4 v jcb989
5,10 = jcb989 v morge4
11,12 will be a re-roll

Off to check the results and will post the turn shortly...thanks guys!

Ok, so it was quite an unexpected result that the Allies held out in Clervaux (k9mike v. KingT)

Image

Being the last battle for the turn, the campaign progressed into the next turn and to the first attack.

Here is the Vassal log file (download then open from within Vassal to click through the steps).

Or for those who just want the latest situation map...
Image

So the next battle should be a doozy! Remember though, the Allies have nothing to lose so even though they are going up against 4 SS Panzer Divisions, they will want to do as much damage as possible without losing too much...because those panzers will likely strike back!

Battle intel to follow...good luck and thanks for playing!

Very nice development, that one was a very tough battle. I had a very tough time canceling out Sherman 76 losses with Panther kills and got those only very late in the game.

Looking forward to the next one!

Yes...and I was foolish to even try an push that one Panther into middle of town. Should have just saved him..That was a toughie. You did really good at defense KT. ;)

Thanks, Mike! I did have a lot of infantry units in the town waiting for tanks. Well, you know, for anyone willing to drop by. :)

I had a suggestion Brummbar to consider, or maybe you already considered it.
What if you did totalizing from the results? # of Allied victories versus # of German victories
to determine the result. Would that put the game into a rut you think?

Good suggestion jcb989...I had considered something similar. The concern there is that we would get average results which would eliminate any chance for unique results. For example, in the last battle there were three results that were almost exactly the same (which saw pretty much the elimination of the Allies) and two in which the allies did better...one in fact that saw the allies not even damaged (rare). It turned out to be a 1 in 5 chance that this was the result but with an average, it would've never have come to light.

I'm not sure that's the best method...but it does cover off the random element that the boardgame represents by rolling dice. Suggestions are always welcome. Thanks.
