Well it will be interesting to see the changes. Hopefully it will be quite considerable. Also some of the "bugs" that have been mentioned has been around for a while now and still nothing has been done about them. So I would expect those to be changed otherwise I will be a little bit disappointed. In particular avg cav standing when on ai evade vs lancers. I have mentioned this of and off for quite possibly close to a year.

So what is happening with Wolves?

Chris - could you reply to my pm please.

Other things possibly that may have been touched upon

1 I know Fedem has mentioned this but cav without lance will stand agst lance armed troops.

For example undrilled avg, prot, bow sword will stand agst sup, prot, undrilled, lance and sword.

2 Troops that will normally evade or are on always evade will sometimes stand when contacted by an enemy pursuing unit. I have had a few examples, where cav who are on always evade and have been charged by hf will also stand.

3. Sometimes when a unit has been routed, one of the units that was in contact but did not actually fight has limited movement options.

4 I think ally gens can support non allied troops.

5 When a gen is in rout his ZOC still stands so units can march, maybe they have the benefit of a +1 for rallying as well?

6 Break offs. I started this I think. When mounted charge into units that on impact theya re down, for example, armoured, sup cav vs prot off spear (average). I would place units behind them to stop them breaking off. They have better factors in combat? In the TT game if you are unable to break off at least 1 inch, mounted units drop a cohesion level.

Also have noticed that some mounted troops will stay in contact with enemy foot for longer than normal. For example on impact they ahve not disrupted foot and in combat still not disrupted they will break off. There are those times when they remain in contact with a non-disrupted unit. Maybe you have implemetned something in the system which allows them to stay in contact one more turn as they ahve an advantage in combat?

7 Haven't seen it for a while but there were some rare ocassions where a routing unit would burst througha friendly unit in combat and so disrupting it.

8 There does not seem to be any benefit for charging a unit in the flank, when you are behind it's flank, apart from charging bow armed units.

9 Foot units with lf support seem to be better than units without lf support. They cost the same but lf supported units can shoot (a little damage but it all adds up). They also give support shooting as well, I believe. If this is true, maybe 1 pt more.

10 Maps. Maybe you could give the player who has lost initiative the option of erasing x number of hexes?

There's probably more but can not think of anything at the moment.

Looking forward to the changes anyways. Hope don't have to buy a new set of rules though?
6) Break Offs: I noticed that sometimes Cavalry figting Cavalry got disrupted and they do not try to break. Eg I remember Light Spear Armored Cav Superior Inspired Commander versus a Cataphract. It was disrupted and didnt brake, it was Fragmented and didnt brake and then he died

Tks

Hi Fed

Cavalry do not break off when fighting other mounted, it only applies when facing foot.

A manual would be great but the CEAW expansion manual was entirely community produced and its likely that we would need the community to help in producing something similar for FoG. The cost in time would just be prohibitive for the team to look at this.

Hello guys,

Just a short update: the work is going ok, and the first beta is not so far away (a month or so from now on). As far as we've discussed this until now, the beta might be available to everyone owning the old digital FoG, but a final decision was not yet made regarding this. As soon as we'll have more to say, an official announcement will be made.

Cheers,
dan

This sounds as if we may have to buy a new set of rules or is it a free update/patch?

I definitely hope that we can switch to the new version of the game via a free update, if not I would get pissed off actually. Just bought the game a few weeks ago...

If you read page 3 of this thread you will find the answer. I don't know how many times the Slitherine and NewRoSoft chaps have to say this. :?

I think "Oath of Fealty" will definitely be coming after "Wolves", Micha. But then it is unclear what will happen at the moment.

Thank you Pete,

i try to explain short why i"m asking.
Field of glory covers a lot of timeperiods.
The timeperiods from 1700 on i will cover for me with modifications for another game. But there is a gap from
aproximatelyfrom 1500 to 1700. And i want to know if Field of glory will cover this gap or i have to do it by myself
for my other game.
I saw a napoleonic mod here for FOG; this means its moddable by users.
Maybe , in case slitherine will stop creating more expansions we can do modds by ourselfes.

But the better way for me would be to found a community of people which is willing to pay a part of the price for the expansions
before its at our disposal for purchasing, only a idea.

Hi Micha

There is a FOG-Renaissance tabletop set of rules.

Normally ancient wargames rules are from 3000BC to 1500AD.

Renaissance covers the dates you have specified

I don't think a decision has been made on whether there will be a Renaissance FOG for the PC. A lot of us are really hoping there will be. The new developers seem to have developed some ideas for having more than one unit in a hex and if these work OK they may be suitable for pike and musket formations too. The bottom line, as always though, is whether it would be inancially viable to have a Renaissance PC game.

More than 1 unit in a hex ???.
Sorry , but i have bad experience with this. In John Tillers Wargames and in " Horses and muskets " i had more than 1 unit in a hex.
I will not describe exactly why but the gameplay was , from my standpoint, horrible.
It was the mainreason why i create at the moment a American war of independence game because John Tillers game and other games about this te periode had this possibility to have many units in a hex.
Personally for me this will not be a advance.
If this is really planned i hop she make the player able to switch this off.
