I would also like to add my thanks to Hammy and the Games Expo team for a great day of wargaming even if my three games were the shortest which gave me more time to local round.

Thanks for a great event again with a special thanks to Hammy and my opponents for putting up with the repeated excursions from my son looking under the table for dropped dice.

Hopefully I will get him trained up so he can enter on his own next year.

My Assyrians did about as well as I thought they would in an open competition - i.e. quite badly, ending up in the lower reaches

As expected my Hundred Years War English beat a cavalry army (Sassanid) but were overwhelmed by Impact Foot (Dacians) and were one attrition point away from a complete defeat by massed Bw*/ Heavy Weapon (Tupi) though I did have chances to get a better result against the latter, having got a couple of enemy battlegroups down to fragmented, only to see my opponent Steve roll 11s and 12s left, right and centre on Cohesion Tests whereas I couldn't buy a passed test. Fair play to Steve though, apparently he had rotten dice in his first game so I can't begrudge him a bit of luck somewhere down the line.

I can confirm that Steve's Tupi had appalling luck in the first game (he failed almost every death roll).
Although Peter's dice in the 3rd game were even worse. With even dice I think you would both have had me.

The Tupi were actually really fun and the ideal army to take for a 650ap event. Protected MF in the open make a tempting target and people are surprised when their mounted end up as pin-cushions or their foot come unstuck vs Hvy Wpn.

In the the first game against the Dom Rom Swarm the combat wins and draws were probably even, but with one 8base BGs vs two 4base BGS a drawn combat always went badly for me, I did 4 hits and took 4 fits, both his BGs did 2 hits and took 2 hits, but I was rolling deathrolls with a fail on a '1' or '2', so that's what I unfailingly rolled My dead pile was probably larger than some people's armies there In fact the army only really broke once 2 generals had died and the resulting cascade effect saw BGs drop to broken. Still, some days it goes like that.

My second game against Early Welsh saw Gareth charge his cavalry in expecting me to fold like a deck of cards, mainly because his MF do so when faced with cavalry. It went from bad to worse then as his MF trundled into bow range and also took a pounding. Gareth did break one BG in my centre but by that time both his flanks were in tatters and the final blow came as I flank charged a BG of his and he was unable to intercept.

It would not surprise me if after my third game Alan he gave up entirely as I'd have put my house on dice rolling. English Longbow against Tupi made for an interesting showdown but with the odds in his favour in a bow exchange it made sense to go for it after some initial moves. In melee I had the upper hand against the longbow but his superior Men-at-Arms and average knights had the edge on me. Sadly for Alan that didn't help him at all as I saved almost everything and rallied next go if not. After a long day Alan was a relieved man when time was called and the horror stopped just short of a whitewash.
