Great! That’s Karvon’s and MrCrow’s mirror match. Which Pyrrhic list of the two is it by the way?
principesromanes and hscic: have you agreed on the army lists and map terrain of the mirror match in your leg? Please post here.

Hscic and I (principesromanes) are doing Pyrrhic 280-275 BC vs. Macedonian 320-261 BC Med plain.
Just getting started and with my vacation at the end of June I doubt we'll finish before mid-July.

Phyrrhus slipped some cavalry through the Macedonian warbands, to the chagrin of the Macedonian phalanx that was starting to think it would get the better of the shoving match.
principesromanes (Macedonian 320-261 BC) defeats hscic (Pyrrhic 280-275 BC) 47-18.
The Macedonian cavalry pulled of a decisive victory in the cavalry battle while the phalanx battle descended into chaos as units fell back and broke. The game was over before the victorious Macedonian cavalry could find any exposed Pyrrhic phalanx flanks though.
Thanks for the games. MrCrow and I will get the next match underway shortly.

We have agreed on Pyrrhic 280-275 BC vs Galatian 280-63 BC on med plain. This is a "what if" match: before Pyrrhus decided to attack Siciliy, Macedons asked him to became their king and to protect them against Galatians. He refused and then he decided to move his troops to Sicily.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 6:28 amCongrats! I’ll update when back. Just to be clear, I think that this match will be a bit slow because I have a series of "micro-holidays" in the next 4 weeks.
Regards,
MrCrow

Campio - Season 6: ongoing
No sign of life from principesromanes for a while. Anyone?
We’ll wait him out, hoping that he’ll return soon and resume the game, but if it gets automatically terminated due to too long inactivity, MrCrow will be awarded the victory.

Re: Campio - Season 6: ongoing
For the sake of completeness, but also of fairness, I would like to add a few more details, also to provide some food for thought on how to improve future editions of Campio. Principesromanes has officially been inactive since August 31st but has not played any final matches of Campio since August 20th. Moreover, even before that date, he played very little and inconsistently. I created the matches on July 15th, and although Principesromanes was aware of this, he only started playing a week later at my insistence. Then, after playing a couple of rounds, he stopped again and only resumed, once more at my insistence, around August 8th, playing 4 or 5 more rounds at most. Finally, he stopped playing altogether on August 20th. So at the moment, we have far exceeded the three-week period mentioned in the Campio rules (we're at almost 60 days). This is because Principesromanes simultaneously signed up for the TDC in three different eras, ending up overwhelmed with matches to play. Of course, Principesromanes is free to play whenever and however he likes, but forcing the opponent to play a match that drags on for over two months seems frankly a bit disrespectful. It's nerve-wracking: after a 20-day break, I can barely remember my strategy. Personally, I would never have started Campio had I known it would overlap with my future commitment to the WTC, simply out of fairness and respect for the opponent.
In light of this, regardless of how this final ends, I feel compelled to suggest to Kronenblatt, whom I thank for his patience, to add something to the rules for future editions. When it is stated that matches must be concluded within three weeks, I believe it would be helpful to include something that clarifies what happens if the three-week period is exceeded. Otherwise, there is a real risk of these unpleasant situations arising.
I hope Principesromanes is well and returns to play before the match is removed from the server, but please be aware that now I will be the slow one, as the WTC will take priority.

Battles are to be concluded within a four-week period, failing which victory will be awarded to the player having submitted turns most promptly, as determined by the tournament organiser.

Hi
one of the 2 battle has just ended.
MrCrow (Galatian 280-63 BC) defeats principesromanes (Pyrrhic 280-275 BC) 56-24
The other one will require 2 more turns to end.

Re: Campio - Season 6: ongoing
Exactly three months after the start of the final, here is the result of the second match:
MrCrow (Pyrrhic 280-275 BC) draws with principesromanes (Galatian 280-63 BC) 52-54
Therefore, the total score now becomes:
MrCrow 108, principesromanes 78.
Ironically, a tournament dedicated to Pyrrhus could only end with a Pyrrhic victory. I am reminded of this iconic phrase attributed to him, which is perfectly fitting for such a bloody match that lasted three interminable months:
"Another victory like this and I’ll be returning home without an army!"
