Ulysis used a warband general unit to blow through the Kingdom's middle but lost his right flank to repeated attacks by the Roman's superior medium troops against his Brythonic units.

Division B

Schweetness101 - Andalusian 756-1049AD defeats Cunningcairn - Frankish 751-887AD 63 - 49

A very close game! even closer than the score betrays. I started out quite badly, down about 8-0 after the initial skirmisher clash, but caught up and we remained within a few points of one another right up to the end.

The Andalusians deployed in a long, mixed, broken line with a small ambush contingent somewhat separated in the forests on the left, some spears and massed archers on a hill to the right, veteran spears, massed archers and lancers in the middle, and lots of light horse on the far right. The Franks started with a huge block of infantry in the open on their right, Huscarls out front, and some cavalry complement on the close right, with another cavalry wing on the far left that went way around the side over the far hill.

Here's a picture from near the beginning:

The Anadalusian would be ambushers on the left were found out and quarantined pretty early as their mainline backed up in the face of the overwhelming might of the Frankish heavy foot. The Frankish wide left flank ran into the light horse on the other side of the hill, who along with light foot and massed archers coming off the Andalusian hill on the right, managed to largely disrupt and neutralize that cavalry threat. But, some of them did eventually get around. On the left, the MVP award goes to Massed Archer (27) who held out turn after turn while being repeatedly charged by no less than 3 lancer units lol. That good luck and others helped me hold out and squeak by with a victory.

Here's a picture of the final scene:

In any given 10 games, Cunningcairn will take me in 9 of them, so this is my one for awhile lol.

GG!

Division B

Cunningcairn - Roman 379-424AD with Germanic/Gothic Horse Tribes allies 260-492AD beat Nijis - Hephthalite 350-570AD by 61% to 50%

Nijis was extremely unlucky after playing a very aggressive game. He really took it to the Romans who were well scattered by the end. Fortunately for them their heavy foot survived the onslaught long enough to win. Well played Nijis!

The Byzantine Army has very powerful cavalry units, but without infantry support they don't have any luck in the battlefield.

Division D

SawyerK (Pyrrhic) defeated ggarynorman (Jewish) by 40-8.

The battle was close until the Jewish army suffered a loss of two generals on sequential moves which led to multiple disruptions throughout the Jewish contingent. Despite excellent field position, the disrupted units then proved easy targets for the only slightly damaged Pyrrhic units.
