The offensive spearmen haven't enough power to beat them. Even on a hill like my battle. Maybe you should set a trap...Geffalrus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 11:25 pmIf any of you feisty Div D folk want a practice match, I'm up for it as Div A is proceeding at nice slow and stately pace. Practice games are much less stressful than League games.![]()
The Samnites are pretty dangerous - but if you can survive that first charge, you'll usually be fine if you're using heavy infantry with pikes or offensive spears.
I'll keep this in mind. As soon as my Medieval games are over, I'll send you a PM
Depends on the Samnites. The veteran samnites will require either an average pike or a veteran hoplites to defeat in melee (if they survive the impact). Heavy infantry in the open have a +1 to cohesion that can offset the impact penalty, and then the medium foot penalty of the samnites can hurt them if they start losing in melee. The best units to beat down the Veteran Samnites are the high tier pikes and Roman cohorts. Combo of superior or better morale to resist the impact, and then armor or deep pike to beat them down. Of course, they are much more expensive than veteran Samnites, which is the real problem. Mid-cost superior impact foot are one of the best values out there for infantry. They are competitive on impact with more expensive units, while having the morale to survive multiple turns in melee.GeneralKostas wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:19 am The offensive spearmen haven't enough power to beat them. Cool. I'm up for playing as whatever army is useful.
