hey, i was wondering if it is ok to upgrade the t-26 and b-7 tanks to t-34 as soon as possible (im at the second mission atm).
also is it advisible to have some fighters/bombers early or its a waste?

From my experience, even early T-34s are far superior to T-26/BT-7, not to mention they will have cheap upgrades through entire campaign. Also, KV family - while more expensive they are truly OP early into the war =)

As for planes... well, I tend to play airforce-heavy and yeah, sure. Takes some management to keep them alive early into the mission (AA is your best friend =)), but they sure useful.

thanks, yea i will keep the kv-1s untill the IS-1 become available. maybe change the kv 2 to an uparmoured kv 1 (ecranami i think its called).
lost the 2 fighters in the first mission and bought AA in their stead. will probably buy a bobmer and use it as bait.

Oh yeah, uparmored KV is a beast =)

As for planes - yeah, early Soviet fighters are squishy and not exactly rich on fuel. Still, I prefer having atleast a couple for them to get experience and, more importantly, kills & heroes. As for bombers - it sure helps to have some, especially since you have to deal with hostile navy every now and then... Plus, Il-2 can be really deadly thingie after few stars gained =)

do you use any infantry? i have currently 1 naval 1 engineer to attack the islands (im still at the second mission), and 3 regulars. finn units usually one shot them but i will try to keep them alive for the glorious guards upgrade! the captured kv-1 finn unit also demolishes anything i throw at it, even the ecrenami kv cant take it on 1vs1.
by the way does the mod have SE units and heroes?

Yeah, I usually have few core Infantry units. As with Fighters - they are very squishy initially, but as the gain stars, they becoming extremely deadly in forests, cities, etc. By the time Tigers appear, Infantry can eat them alive in close terrain =)

Suppress and surrender. Or lure into close terrain and kill it with infantry =)
ps: I remember those actually. They are quite annoying, but with bombers and combined effort goes down pretty quick. Or if you manage to surrender it - nets healthy Prestige

Yuuuup, at some point you will be getting SE (Guards) units. There's also bunch of bonus units (awarded for various hidden goals) and some of them are quite nice actually. As for Heroes - there's no super-heroes as far as I remember (like Rudel in German Grand-Campaign with totally crazy stats), but standard Heroes are here.

Mmm, not really. I think I never managed to get ALL of the bonus units possible. But most of them are quite easy to get.
gaius21 wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 9:18 am also is it the mod that caps the exp you can get per mission?
Yup, there's gradually increasing cap that does not allow you to get over too experienced units early in the war (reflecting historical situation more or less).

Nah, it's usually about keeping VPs or capturing some special hexes or destroying group of enemy units etc. Most of the aux units are throw-away meatshield. Exceptions happens, but you'll be notified =)

These reward units usually appear mid-scenario and not related to DV or MV. Somewhere around defense of moscow you can get Su-100Y for example - pretty formidable ATG for quite some time =)

i have got 2 of those, a kv-220-76 in lenigrad mission and the su-100 in moscow. not really fan of fielding prototypes.
i have read in the changelong of the 1.7 version that if the player performs well (whatever that means) in the 8th mission he gets a zis-41 added to his core.

I wanted to thank Akkula and all the other great modders who contributed to this Big Scenario Eastern Front mod. I just finished playing this for the first time yesterday and I would have to say I have never played anything like it. What an incredible work of art in terms of military/strategy gaming. The amount of history was amazing and I am still researching and learning more about different things the mod mentioned. The depth was astonishing. After about 3 turns I had to start naming units and organizing them into armies situated on different avenues of attack. I had to recreate an organizational structure, along with rationing my artillery due to heavy losses, in the midst of the invasion which is very much what the Soviets had to do. Having the player be responsible for moving the factories provides a window into the immense logistics the Soviets were undertaking all while the front was daily rushing forward (I think I read about one industrial steel complex taking 4000 rail cars to relocate). I have known about some of these subjects but your mod made me experience some of the unprecedented weight/severity of them. This is just a game but that is an incredibly respectful thing (I believe only Call of Duty has ever treated the subject with that much respect, that ferry ride into Stalingrad is a great example).

Seeing the hero’s and then researching them has been a wonderful experience for me. It is just a great education on how small we are in the big picture, astonishing to think about what people had to go through, and an honor to remember, read about, and contemplate at least some of the people, among the many many millions, who fought and possibly died in that incomprehensible war. Your mod allowed me to play, feel the rush of excitement, and educated me about many different aspects of the largest front/campaign of WW2. The constant logistics of running all new equipment through the railways (along with thinking about their routing) was great. I also think having to work with what your factories are producing instead of ordering what you want built right at a newly conquered city was an incredibly fun change and required good strategic thinking.

You and everyone who helped you are the Best! Thank you. No game has even come close to this experience. This is the 1st mod for Panzer Corps I have tried so I am not making any comparisons to BE (which I will be saving until Autumn with a nice bottle of scotch), etc. I am grateful there are people who can make these games who clearly loving the history as well.

I did finish early as some of the other players mentioned. When I play it again maybe 6 months from now I will disband all the KV tanks from the start and might change any new ones into t-34s (although the KV tank SHOULD play some production limited role in the war....too many can ruin things....). I played on 50% experience, 100% prestige, 150% enemy prestige and that seemed like a great setting as I had to be careful during that first year and did not have much money for upgrades after replenishments.

Right now I am playing your Caucus campaign on Rommel with historical forces and having a great time while being careful. I can play with historical forces (only using 4 tank regiments) because you are a great designer making intelligent scenarios and not just dumping massive waves of units (KVs etc) into a map. You produce some some intelligent and educational games!

Thank You so much for your work

Hello fgiannet,
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
I am really gad you are enjoying the mod so much. Indeed I spent a lot of time trying to recreate the historical events as much as possible, so it is nice to read comments like yours :)
Maybe someday I will resume my work on Soviet Storm, when that happens one of my priorities will be to make the grand scenario much more difficult to the player: it seems a lot of people are finding it easier than I thought! :P

Best regards,
Akkula.
