good hard fight between two totally different armies, could've gone either way, good game, good opponent.

phoyle3290 - Lombard 568-569 AD defeats Barrold713 - Palmyran 258-273 AD - 57-28
Thanks for the game!
That finishes my matches for the season across all sections. I had fun playing with a horse army even though I didn't expect a whole lot out of them. They make for some pretty interesting battles. Definitely worth trying armies you aren't comfortable with.

Div A
Geffalrus (Byzantines) defeats nyczar (ancient Britons and Romans) 41-15
Once again I somehow did better when using an army that featured a sizable contingent of Limitanei, even though they spent most of the game avoiding combat with the powerful warbands and legions my opponent brought to the field. Most of the battle featured my horse archers and lancers facing off with the slingers, Roman cavalry, and light chariots of the British. A combination of shooting and timed charges allowed me to steadily chip away at those support units while I left the warband and legion core largely untouched. Eventually, that core caught up with my fragile line of limitanei and comitatensis units. My cavalry were able to wrap up juuuuuuust enough slingers and chariots to cross the 40% threshold precisely one turn before I think nyczar would have ground my infantry line into paste.
Good game all around. That's it for me in Late Antiquity.

Division B
Geffalrus (Polish) defeats batesmotel (Khorasanian) 42-13
Starting flanked by forests, the Polish mixture of infantry, archers, and Pancerni (armored cav) advanced to meet the enemy host. Massed archers supported by some cavalry and infantry held off a swarm of light horse archers on the left, while the main line advanced against the Muslim center. Some poor rolls by the shield wall almost disrupted the Polish offensive, but the cavalry in reserve were able to plug the gaps and then sneak through some units to start outflanking the engaged Dailami foot. The armored dismounted nobles were a force to be reckoned with, especially when supported by cheaper spears on the flanks. And that's it for me in this season of the DL.
Thank you bates for the battle, and thank you again Pete for keeping this whole thing running.
