rockmanbob123 Italian (Ghibelline) Defeated GrimGrom Serbians 48-15
The Italians set up a defensive position on a small hill in the center of map expecting the serbians horse would attempt to flank the missles and spears. The serbians advanced of the italian left the italians reserves refused left and forced the serbian cavalry to separate from the infantry.
Counterattacking between the two bodies of troops the Italian knights flanked the flankers and the rout was on.
Thanks for the game!

rexhurley (Andalusians) defeats phlewis (Indian) 62/41
I picked the wrong troops thinking PHL was going to trick me by using a Cavalry heavy army. I was wrong he turned up with Nellies and Bow. Struggling to make inroads initially there was a sudden momentum shift mid game that had me level the game at 31 all, then seize the initiative on to the win.
Thanks for the chat and friendship throughout the game. Your insights into FOGD2 was most helpful.
That leaves me with just keksoid to finish off my FOGD career with. My current standing after this 81pt win would be 7/1 - 607pts
Cheers Rex

Re: TDC VI Classical - Results
Division B
angusosborne (Persian) and ulysisgrunt (Roman) draw 61-60
Romans suffered 61% losses and Persian 60%
Initially I planned to sit my army between a built-up-area and a forest, but then decided I could attack around the built-up-area, which more or less worked out. Meanwhile the Romans did well to win the skirmish despite being outnumbered in the centre. When the battlelines joined the legionaries crushed my left and centre flank comprehensively, but as we swung around to fight each other I got the advantage again thanks to a fortuitous cavalry charge breaking both of the remaining Roman mounted units in one turn. I slightly bungled the last turn: turned a unit of archers before hoplites next to them autobroke which allowed a legionary charge into their rear, but I think the draw was more of a fair result than a Persian win.
Thank you very much Kroche for running it, and congratulations to Random27 for winning: well deserved.

Divison C
principesromanes (Hebrew 681-586 BC with Kushite Egyptian 727-656 BC) defeats IMC (Antigonid 320-301 BC with Greek 460-281 BC allies) 40-12
The Antigonid forces started the contest by withdrawing to find a more open battlefield, more favourable to the phalanx – and of course the Hebrew chariots (rerolled the map). Unfortunately, the Hebrew army caught the Antigonid forces by the sea and commanded a small hill overlooking the Antigonid camp (there was a small, steep hill on my side of the battlefield, as well as more rough than the phalanx and chariots really wanted).
While the Antigonid phalanx anchored itself on the sea, the strong cavalry wing tried to push the open plain on the other flank. While the Antigonid cavalry was clearly superior to the Hebrew cavalry, the Hebrew cavalry was well supported by some Hebrew foot and generous missile support. When the Hebrew skirmishers bested the Antigonid light horse, the Antigonid cavalry wing was in trouble.
Meanwhile, on the other flank, the small Antigonid phalanx – generously supported by hoplites – was struggling to make headway against the Hebrew chariots, backed by massed archers. The Hebrew bows – supported by some light foot – slowly disrupted the hoplites. The chariots were more than happy to give ground in response to charges from the phalanx.
It was the Antigonid medium foot that experienced the most success in the centre. The Antigonid infantry had the advantage of a small hill and put that to good use to rout a few elements of the Hebrew line, including a unit of Gibborim. Ultimately, even here, the Hebrew numbers proved overwhelming – the cheaper and more numerous Hebrew infantry could eventually find flanking opportunities to exploit.
Thank you for a well played game!

They are underway angus thanks!angusosborne wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 12:51 amYou're doing fine and plenty of time to finish your games. I believe you still have games against wzfcns and Indibil to complete.Asterix_von_TWC wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 1:11 pm Hi gents, not an excuse maker, but in a very hard phase these months: being last in Group C clearly reflects that of course. Who do I have outstanding to challenge? I found challenges from ggarynorman than never received notifications or posts for and accepted just now. Again, sorry, life is not easy at times.

Div A,
Rafydedel Mycanean 1250 BC defeats Aetius39 Philistin 1161 bc + neo hittites allies 58-33
The Philistin front line was impressive with all possible superior infantries, but, despite losses, somehow Mycanean heavy spearmen managed to hold them long enough for the Mycanean wings to outnumber and flank the rest of the line.
Thanks Aetius for a good melee
This is my last game, thanks to all and to organizers in particular.
