Haha, is it me you're referring to? :)

Anyway, I'm not a huge found of these enormous scenario (too many units that cannot be stacked :( ) but your Desert War is great. The funny thing is that I used to play a lot an old wargame Afrika (shit, I'm that old :( ) so I'm enjoying it even more.
Thanks a lot for your work.

Maybe you could start it with the initial Italian offensive?

I only skimmed the description of the updates and assumed all the mines were gone, instead of just most. Whoops! At least it's possible to navigate them so long as you go slowly.

Hello all,

I had a hard drive crash and lost all my files. In particular Russia 3.0.

If someone could supply a link or upload of Russian Front 3.0 files, that would be much appreciated.

I really need to start paying more attention to what's going on in my games. I kept wondering why my German ships were getting sunk by Russian artillery. Oooooh it's coastal fortress / cannon! Too late now :P

Updated version of "Road to Egypt" 1.1. :D

In "The West Campaign v 1.1" I went over with the Maginot line, sorry  , in the next version I will correct it because otherwise the German victory is impossible.

Well done on your victory KarisFraMauro, once you setup your defense it was nearly impossible to pass. When I realized I needed artillery and not other tanks it was too late.

It was pretty sneaky of you to send those units east via a southern route, I almost didn't notice. I think you would have done better if instead of bunching up your units in the west you had a more gradual front evenly spread along the south towards the east. Kind of in a rolling deployment so to speak. A localized stalemate is fine so long as behind the lines you're still moving units towards vulnerable areas. Overall I need to try playing as Germany to get a better feel for the map, there's only so much you can learn from just one side. You definitely made life difficult in the air however!

I'll probably surrender soon in the Italy map however. I'm down to two strategic bombers versus allied aircraft that are well into the double digits. And those pesky warships, it's difficult to visualize a path to victory...

I read on the BBC website there's a possible Kessler syndrome tomorrow (look it up on wikipedia if you don't already know) so this year just gets better and better... At least there's always computer games! I've been thinking the only weakness of the russian campaign is the prolonged endgame. There comes a point where one side or the other has no chance of winning, but they can still drag things out interminably if so inclined. Because it takes soooo long for the winning side to move all their hundreds of units. I wonder if fiddling with the victory / loss conditions might help? Something like "if Germany hasn't taken at least one major objective by turn X they lose" Or "if Russia doesn't retain at least two major objectives by turn X they lose".

I find your idea of victory conditions interesting but I am not very clear about it because we would limit the various possibilities of strategy on the part of both sides. In any case, you are very close to beating me with the Axis side, let's see what happens. :)

Heh well it's only a minor quibble really. I'm actually thinking of other games where it's obvious Germany no longer has a chance to win, but in addition to Russia having to move sooooo many units they also have to cross the entire map. It's less of an issue where Germany is winning because their units are already on the right side of the map and just have to move south. Although even that can take a while. At this point I'm fine if there aren't any further versions of The Russian Campaign. Lots of other maps to try!

Speaking of which I really like how the terrain is a factor in the road to egypt. The way escarpments form an impassable barrier, forcing players to look for openings or employ things like paratroopers is pretty cool. Previously stuff like rivers would slow you down but not actually block you.

Yes, I think that "Road to Egypt" is the campaign that has been directly better for me, in version 1.1 I made very few changes and I leave it as is. Of course, I screwed up in the south with you (KarisFramauro), let's see if I can solve it.

Regarding "The Russian Campaign" I would like to try it as German to see how it is this version, whether to leave it as it is or lower the rewards of the Axis a little.

The way my anti-aircraft has been constantly in action but Russia STILL has a huge air force makes me think the resource situation is quite adequeate already :D I might have another game playing as Russia against you this time, but I'd like to finish my ongoing game with Nero first and that isn't about to happen any time soon.

Ok, I am hesitating, maybe it's okay to leave it as it is. I would be interested if the game you are playing with nero is the latest version 3.2 and in that case how it ends. 8)

Yup it's the latest version, and although things were noticeably more difficult playing as Russia in the first dozen turns I've been able to turn it around pretty satisfactorily. I always try to have one or two tricks up my sleeve, but I'm afraid to be specific lest they get removed in future versions :)

Still got the "Super Finns" - more heros than the Russians and is there a specialisation that the Fascists do not have?

Think I'll wait a little longer :)
