Thanks flak, amazing quality as always, those Panzers really blew my mind.

Thanks ckraiderfan1 for the compliments. I like your units and they look good. I especially like the fact that you are getting into this type of modding. As for me, I don't personally prefer figures on my units, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. It really doesn't matter what others like or think (H. Balck found that out a long time ago), it is what YOU like and enjoy making and using in your games. If others like you stuff and use it, it is frosting on the cake as we say.

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
Here are some Flammpanzers I have gathered made by several members of the forum. Guille just presented us with a beautiful StuGIII Flammpanzer. It inspired me to do a bit of work in skinning the Flammpanzers of PZC. There is a Pzr II Flamingo, Pzr IIIM Flammpzr, Hetzer 38(t) Flammpzr (two versions), StuG III Flammpzr (two versions-one with schurtzen armor from the Pzr III series). I know Puma made a Tiger I Flammpanzer, but he doesn't want people messing with his units. It IS of course a fantasy unit, but IF some talented member of the forum did decide to make a Tiger I Flammpanzer in the vanilla style suitable for skinning, well that might open up a whole new ball game.
These jewels might be just the thing to fight in the cities!

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
Since I was in the mood for PZC modding today after doing all those masks and skinning stuff, I had a brain fart. There were Pzr V F series (maybe or planned) in the Pzr V chassis with the "Schmallturm". I have seen some B&W pictures of some (maybe they were faked, I dunno), but they look original.
Now let me be the first to say that the Panther is probably my favorite unit in the game. And I love the "lines" of that armor, both PzV and JgdPther. It's just too cruel to think about all of those Panthers and JgdPanthers being blown to bits. So, out of PHCAS's beautiful Pzr V G in original and steel wheels and the schmall turm of McNamara's Schmallturm unit E50, I made these attached bastards of Panther tanks. I always thought a schmallturm Panther looked a little odd, but maybe there is something in the eye of the beholder of that Panther chassis and that big gun. The units are "sized" proportionate with all my references, but I'll be damned if they don't still look a bit odd and funny.
After looking at these Schmalturm units for a couple of days, I think the "schmalturms" are a bit too small. But I cannot size them without giving up sharp and crisp pixels. Anyone got any ideas?
UPDATE TO POSTING:
After a very generous offer of assistance from Guille about these Schmalturm units, we agree the turrets are undersized and he will administer his magnanimous artistic skills to create these great new Panther F Schmalturms. Our research has found that the Panther F was the ONLY one version to have a Schmalturm. The Schmalturm was not produced until 1944 and the Panther II was only a chassis and a project that was dropped in 1943. So that being said, other sources have indicated the Panther II, IF fitted with a turret, would have had a regular Panther G turret in the most likely situation. The only surviving Panther II chassis is in the Patton Museum in Kentucky in the USA, having been captured with no turret at its production factory. The museum fitted a Panther G turret to it and is considered by many if not most experts as the most realistic and probable Panther II that would have been produced. The Panther II had heavier armor and was based on the Tiger II hull. It was NOT an E 50.

Flak: Indeed, the Schmallturm on that Panthers looks a bit undersized... I have found some images suitable to try to improve it. I will provide you with a base icon, to see if it can be made to look better...

Guille, thank you so much. I truly appreciate it very much my friend.
In the meantime I am into several more projects of mixing and matching some units that are not in the game, at least in the look that I have been working on.

Guille, I was so wrapped up in doing other units, I overlooked this detail on the PzIV with the mirrored shadows. I have fiddled around with GIMP and NetPAINT and need a bit of guidance on how to correct this. Would you be kind enough to tell me how to do this with either program as my efforts have been without satisfactory success. Thank you.guille1434 wrote:Excellent and very thorough work! I congratulate you! And as always, thanks for sharing, my friend!!
PS: After a quick look to your uploaded files, I noticed that the shadows for the Pz IV variants look "mirrored", when they should be pointing to the left in both icons... Just a detail...

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
I have been making some T34 43 German versions of units that I am still working on before I post them on the forum. They are patterned after various reference pictures I have found. I am making a selection of them for variation. The Germans had their own "style" of customizing a T34 and that is what I am attempting to duplicate.
In the meantime during the process, I removed the rear side fuel tanks from the stock T34 43 and touched up the open spaces to make two versions of it. One has no fuel tanks and is bare like many you see in pictures. The other has the box rear type fuel tanks on each side of the exhaust. Also I put antenna on BOTH sides of the vanilla stock image since it only had ONE antenna and just did not seem right. And oh yeah.......the star on the two units I reworked is a bit different. Of course some of you may like the T34 43 the vanilla way.
Maybe Akkula can put these to good use in his mod cause I know he has lots of Russian tanks.

Wow flak, what a nice surprise to see this beautiful variants
Actually I was about to ask you (and Guille) some T-34 variants to add more variety to my mod... but you have anticipated me!.
1- Please, do you have the masks for these icons?, I really want to implement them
2- Can I ask you some special variants?:
T-34-41 Ekranami: Just like the KV-1, some of them received additional armor plates on the turrent and chassis to improve the resistance. Some pics:

And the T-34-41 icon I made and use (in case you decide to fulfill my request):

T-34-41 Uralmash: A rare production batch with a distinctive turret design. Some pics:

We can use the vanilla chassis and try look for a adaptable turret. I still couldnt find any
Best regards.
Akkula.

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
Hi Akkula, Glad you like the Soviet T34-43's. The game needed some variations of that famous tank I thought even though the biggest difference is the removal of the side fuel tanks. I see as many tanks without them as with them. The square rear fuel boxes were an afterthought after I had removed the side tanks. I thought about making a "long range" version with both side and rear tanks, but that might be too unrealistic. If you want one I will make it, very easily done now.
I have not done masks for these Soviet tanks, but I will do it for you. Give me a few days and I will put them on the thread and send them to you in pvt email.
Also will work on the other tank unit you put in the thread. I have lots of references and so does Guille. I just don't have the talent to make a full scratch icon of the quality he does, but I can cut, paste, mix and match a bit.

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
Here are five of the ten German T34-43 units skinned. I will finish the rest this weekend, masking and skinning. As always, skins are an individual thing for a PZC affecionado, so bear in mind that some skins just look better on certain units. These skins came out of the resized skins I posted a link on in the forum.
I sort of like the skirted T34-43 versions, they look different. Camo looks very good on them. I put Pz IV cupolas (on some versions), boxes, tracks, Jerry cans, etc. on the German T34's because the Germans did that sort of thing to captured units and also put very blatant and large balkenkreuz emblems on the turrets. I also moved the radio antenna on the captured tanks because the Soviet version has the radio antenna on the right front hull beside the front of the turret. That seems a bit of bad planning since it is more easily shot off, damaged or could interfere with turret movement and sighting on occasion. The Germans were radio savvy. They just didn't make enough tanks.

Re: Some new icons if you want them, more to follow
Hehe... The rear mounted "square" fuel cells were being looked for by me to make some variations of the T-34-57 icon, a tank which was produced, according to my research, based on the model 1941 and model 1943 hulls... and I wanted to use that special tanks to help visually differentiate both variants... So, you are warned that I am also working on the T-34-57 in two variants (and some more sub-variants made by the use of special "customization" files)...
Flak: You can make one basic "bare" T-34 model 43 icon and make all the variations of extra fuel tanks, etc... by the use of special files, the same way you did with the Panthers... Also, I am going to show you an easy way to correct that shadow problem with teh Pz IV icon...
By the way... Excellent German variantions on the T-34! It would be VERY kind from you to release a "basic grey" version of that variant also

Beautiful captured T-34s!. Fantastic job as usual flak.
I am very happy you are working on this legendary tank, can´t wait for the complete pack with all the masks and extras (this new standard you and Guille have put is the dream of any modder).
Thanks a lot.
EDIT: Very interesting additions you posted T2. I never saw them before, to the exception of course the improvised "anti-panzerfaust" panels Berlin style. I would love if flak could add them to the T-34-85
