Re: Anyone interested in a 25mm 1 day FOG-R competition
And then there where 16.
Unfortunately Chris Besely and Tim Wickens have pulled out. I'll recast the drawer slightly -otherwise Richard Jeffrey Cook and I would face each other round 1.
Times - If you can aim to be there ready to start playing for 09:00. I should hopefully have got a key and got tables set up earlier than that.
For those who don''t know the Elles Hall, we are in Room 2 upstairs.
You will need to pay for parking I'm afraid, bring some change for the day.
Supermarkets, shops and burger places within 10 minutes walk for food. Nearest pub is probably a drive and not much use to you unless you win or lose fast !

On the draw: If it makes it easier, I haven't played any of the oxford club... Or actually seen their lists/armies...
Then don can't beat my army in the first round

Re: Anyone interested in a 25mm 1 day FOG-R competition
I know that RJ-C is good but asking him to play both Dave Allen and Chris Beesley in the first round is a little unfair...

Re: Anyone interested in a 25mm 1 day FOG-R competition
Thanks very much for organising the event Marc.
I really liked the format and appreciated the time and effort that you put into the pre-set terrain.
I had 3 very enjoyable games vs Tim, Ben and yourself - and of course a big thank you to Richard J-C for lending me the figures.
If you run it again next year I would certainly try and attend.

Re: Anyone interested in a 25mm 1 day FOG-R competition
Firstly a big thank you Marc for running the event... Looking forward to more next year.
Also to my opponents for three enjoyable games. And not to make the three following mistakes again.
1. When disrupted against shooty 5+1s, don't stand and take another round of shooting waiting for more support , go in and you may have chance of damaging their unit.
2. Read the rules. Pike in 4+2s don't not get a factor in melee against warriors. Genuine mistake by us both. Outcome would have been similar for our game. (DH v warriors... Mumble mumble
)
3. Don't think you can take a disrupted french p+s unit up hill with your warrior block. Remember the warriors still throw out a reasonable amount of shooty dice when in 8s.
Positives:
The units of 2 horse are really worth the money... Ask Tom
8s of superior warriors really work. Amend list to include upgrading the 6 to an 8.
Based on this comp, bringing more warriors over the LF unit was the correct move.
See you again in tne Rollcall 25mms...

Yep, A most enjoyable day. Thanks Marc.
Thanks also to my opponents Byron,Dave and Andy.
Thanks also must go to my army....."Point and go and don't stop until you get to the enemy baseline"
Thanks to my Driver "Don" whose fault it is. His constructive feedback to be more direct is proving to be rather good advice.
Bet he's regretting that feedback now
Oh and yes Big boys toys is the way forward.
cheers

Seems to be a lot of positive from the 25mm games - might have to unearth the Warlord plastic stuff I bought a couple of years ago. Something to fill the long winter nights I guess

Woohoo - 92 points from three games! Who's the daddy?
Sadly, my last game against Alan only netted me 8 point, not 85.
Ya gotta love those spreadsheets

Getting the big toys out was certainly excellent.
And my scores are correct as reported, no matter how odd that might actually look after a closer inspection... !

Thanks all for the feeback
I learnt that it is better not to get closer to a Swedish Brigade even if tempted. I had 2 P+S shooting at one Swede, so closed to short range. Pete then charges and 2 turns later I'm down 2 units ..
Now to go and practice some DBMM for Warfare - I'm doing 25mm , but different rules set ...

Marc - you could do 25mm FOG AM at Warfare. Not so much of a change.
