I don't see us doing much before Monday, just getting everyone going and making sure we don't have any army list worries or kingdom changes.hidde wrote:Good.
Monday is my choice. Working Friday and Saturday and games to play (if one can call it play when you're up against Pantherboy. It's more like a gauntlet!)
Need the time to study the Danes and perhaps a game or two.
Thanks, I totally missed that.Scar wrote: I believe you use low countries. The army list is right below the map on page 5 showing the kingdoms.
I wouldn't mind having a few days to play around with these armies before starting the campaign, I am completely unfamiliar with medieval warfare. But if people are in a hurry to start I can do whatever...
No worries there, looks like we won't try and begin until Monday. And even then, I doubt any battles will be fought until at the earliest end of the week.76mm wrote:Thanks, I totally missed that.Scar wrote: I believe you use low countries. The campaign starts with certain kingdoms aligned to either France or England (all the Kingdoms on either the right or left side of the map). The neutral Kingdoms are at the bottom. You can always rebel and leave either France or England, or you can join them if your neutral. But remember that rebellion costs money.Blathergut wrote:Do we have set alliances (esp. w France or England) at start? Or are we completely free to wheel and deal???

Currently the rules allow you to "loan" troops to another kingdom if there is a battle and both the loanee and loaner armies are in the same province. Also, you can give other Kingdoms money, which they can use to buy troops, but the transers of money can only take place in the income phase.76mm wrote:Us neutral guys can do whatever we want diplomatically, right?
Also, what is the policy on renting out one's troops as mercenaries, or simply lending them to another army? (ie, the other player would command, but would get to use part of your troops?)
As for the neutrals, they can pretty much do what they want. Stay neutral, join a faction etc.

Hi Tom:zumHeuriger wrote:What are the rules for choosing allies for your list, and troop types? Can I choose a Swiss ally-general and friends, or should we be usign core list only? What about the core list Swiss?
I just read my German list - what a collection of interesting troops (very diverse though).
Tom
I listed the armies that are allowed to use allies in the list of kingdoms and armies, like say Flanders uses 100YW English w/ Flemish allies. But I didn't check everyone as closely as I would have liked, and the game is fairly new so I probably missed some things in that regard.
When you do the research on your Kingdom, everyone let me know if you think you should get certain allies with your kingdom's army list, and we can add them if it feels like it would fit for what we are doing in the campaign.
First Season
Don't worry too much guys on all the rules. The first season or two will be a learning time, and I will really walk us through the phases as we go. I think everyone will pick it up pretty quickly.
alliances
I would suggest that England and France should start communicating with its alliance members, and the nuetrals, to start getting everyone on board for the coming year. Also, the larger Kingdoms like Normandy and Brittany should take a lead role in marshalling your alliances kingdoms for the war.

Here is a copy of the rules for starting army sizes. Some Kingdoms can start with more than one army, I have also pasted the limits. I would suggest that you go ahead and start building your armies, and if you have any questions let me know. That way we will be ready to start going on Monday. Please also remember that you can only add new points during certain phase, so the free build points are all you will start with until the end of the first year.
