WTC25 PRE INFORMATION

Post by Triarii »

WTC25

The recruitment thread for WTC 25 will open on 4th August 2025.
Slitherine are generously supporting this tournament which, like WTC24, will be a Swiss tournament of five rounds for teams of four (reserve optional).
Entrants will play five mirror challenges (10 games) for their team completing one round (2 games) every 18 days between 10th September and 17th December 2025.

Entries are being invited from
  • Teams of four or four plus a reserve
    OR from
Three, or two, or individual players who are prepared to be placed in a team of four by the organisers. Individuals prepared to take part as a reserve are also welcome to enter.
SUMMARY OF FORMAT

Entries are invited from teams of four are invited with or without a fifth reserve player. Groups of two or three or individuals who wish to participate and are willing to be allocated to a team are invited to enter.
Each team will nominate a player for one of the four periods in each of the five rounds.
The periods are FoGII platform; Bronze Age, Classical, and Fall of Rome and the FoG Medieval platform – Medieval period.
After a draw for the first round each team will be matched against another team using the Swiss system and a new, bespoke, game scoring system to rank the teams after each round.
No teams will ever play each other twice during the five rounds.
Each match will be of four mirror challenges: the four players of one team playing the four players of the opposing team with one mirror challenge (2 games) in each of the four periods. The army lists and terrain type will be set for each period by the organisers. They will be historical opponents and will be different in each round.

At the end of the tournament the team with the highest cumulative score will be WTC25 champions.

The Slitherine scoring system will also be used to rank individual players effectiveness as in WTC24 and in Slitherine’s in-house tournaments.

Are the teams still based on geographic location or not?

Intention is to make participation as open as possible for WTC25.

So; it is entirely up to the team members - there is no requirement for you to base membership on geographical location but if entering as a complete team you are very welcome to choose to do so.

If players register to take part as three, two or individuals and wish to be placed in a full team the primary consideration in that will be any preference for periods not geography.
