Are save games compatible?

I liked the way DBx games kept infantry formations together. I would welcome any changes to the rules that gives an incentive for infantry units to maintain formation, which was a compelling survival strategy for infantry historically I have tried to like FoG2 but this issue is the immersion killer ...

Has FOG2 drifted back to the 6th edition fireworks display? All the battles on youtube seem to show both armies fracturing into individual maneuver elements on contact. There seems to be little incentive to maintain a line or even a phalanx
