I do have AVG running. I checked the status and log files to see if anything was flagged, but there was nothing listed. I will disable AVG this weekend and retry to confirm.

Nothing unusual about the setup that I know of. It is three year old Gateway system. Runs all other games except ones requiring 1gb video cards.
