Field Fortifications defended by mixed battle groups
I have a medieval Swedish army with mixed battle groups of HF armoured heavy weapon and MF armoured crossbow. I also have the option to take field fortifications, but I'm a bit confused over what happens when a BG behind the fortifications is attacked in the rear or the flank, and isn't actually fig...

Which era Swedish? late medieval, lots of militia backup up by a few knights, mounted crossbows, handgunners and some mounted companions. The militia are fairly nasty in a stand up fight, but the army is a bit small, and slow, and undrilled, so once my flank is turned it's pretty much all over. Jason

I'm playing in the Battlecry FOG tournament in Auckland on Feb 19/20, along with five other members of our gaming club. One of us was accepted as a playtester so we plan to use exactly the same armies from the tournament with the new rules, it should be a useful test. Between us we have around twent...

Are the Swedes drilled? Swedes are undrilled, great in a straight line, not so hot if you want to try wheeling an entire battle line in order to reduce the frontage. I've tried moving through terrain but it takes too long when you are down to 2MU per turn, my opponents generally have lots of LF tha...

Mixed BG's, field fortifications and rear charges
I play a late Swedish Medieval army, which is mostly composed of mixed battle groups with heavy foot, armoured, heavy weapon backed up by medium foot armoured crossbow swordsmen. I want to try field fortifications, and have a question about being charged in the rear. I know there is no disadvantage ...

Thanks guys I think I get it now, I will definitely be getting some mounted crossbowmen, my opponents often have their knights in BG's of four bases, so I stand a chance of disrupting them, and being able to run away if necessary, and I can see that they would be a nuisance if they were able to get ...

Newbie needs help with medieval armies
Hi guys I'm new to FOG, only played a couple of games with borrowed armies so I'm still trying to get my head around what works and what doesn't. I like the look of medieval armies, maybe German, Swiss or Swedish, but I have a few things that I don't understand 1, what's the use of mounted crossbows...
