I have a medieval Swedish army with mixed battle groups of HF armoured heavy weapon and MF armoured crossbow. I also have the option to take field fortifications, but I'm a bit confused over what happens when a BG behind the fortifications is attacked in the rear or the flank, and isn't actually ...

I play a late Swedish Medieval army, which is mostly composed of mixed battle groups with heavy foot, armoured, heavy weapon backed up by medium foot armoured crossbow swordsmen. I think I get it now, I will definitely be getting some mounted crossbowmen, my opponents often have their knights in BG's of four bases, so I stand a chance of disrupting them, and being able to run away if necessary, and I can see that they would be a nuisance if they were able to get ...
