I have my Roman Auxilia based on MF bases with HF numbers (still undecided as to which way they should be used) while the Lanciari that are always MF are 3 to a base.
That seems to work fine for me.

Nice report. Just a few comments: The LH were 2:1 with the Cv but with LH being half dice it was still an even fight. Why did the Cv on Cv fight result in a 2nd impact phase? They should have stayed locked in combat surely? And Hannibal was fighting in the front rank, right? Then his +2 would only ...

Just been looking at some old DBR figures after hearing FOGR coming this year.
Nice to know about basing. How about Pistoleers, can we expect them to be OK only 3 to a base?
How will Pi(F) be distinguished?

I prefer historical opponents or at the very least something that seems believable to me.
Still, I would rather play a game than not play at all so I will generally try to get as close to historical as possible then just play whatever that is.

Cool, thanks. I think what confused me is that for impact foot that is pretty clear "unless the foot are charging shock mounted", but the wording for the light spear is different just referring to "unless charging shock mounted" and this made me worried that there might me a diff...

Just to clarify: charging shock cavalry

I have so far played 2 games of FOG and I would just like to clarify something: Both Impact foot and Light spear have an exception to their impact POA referring to "charging shock cavalry". Each time I think I know what this means I start doubting again so I would just like to know does th...

Ancient British

I would like some opinions on Ancient British. In particular: - should they have an IC general or would they work fine with 4 TCs? (I am not one for much flank marching). - Warriors: 2x12 or 3x8? I like 2x12 plus TCs and then 6 or 8 Elites as well. - Having trouble fitting the chariots in, how usefu...

First FOG army - White sheep turcomans

Having received my rules and army lists books (Eternal empire and Storm of arrows) I now have to make my first army. It looks like White sheep is going to be the one. These are my thoughts based on what I have read and would appreciate any advice as I have not played FOG before and do not have acces...

Other than Essex (who don't have any photos on their site) do any other manufacturers do a Lithuanian range and if not are they generic Eastern horse archers or something different? Also is there anywhere I can see a pic of the essex range? Try http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/~kuijt/miscellania/Essex.htm...

You can base the latter four to a base if you really want to but I think that was intended more for those with regular bow DBM elements who didn't want to rebase. Julian Thanks. This is indeed the situation I am sitting with. I am basing some Early Tudor English archers for a DBR army and just real...

I suspect he means hoplites rather than thureophoroi - in which case you are pretty much stuck with Immortal Fire. Yes, these are indeed hoplite figures. Actually they are a friend's figures. I am planning to get the FOG rules soon and with my own figures all being later period was wondering what b...

Am I correct in assuming there are no lists in Rise of Rome that can use those troops?
Only Immortal Fire lists?

Which armies can use 16 Greek Spear and 12 Pike elements?

What armies (and in which books) are there that could be built around 16 Greek spear and 12 Pike Elements, together with some MF, Light horse and Companions?

Other than the obvious Alex Macedonian are there any others?
