Alright, I reinstalled the 1.04 version of the game. It runs great in full screen on my widescreen monitor! I'm not sure what to infer from this, but I hope you guys will know more :-) edit: I'm delaying the installation of any further patches in case you tell me to do something specific before that.

In that screenshot, the green button to the right is settings. Open it and select "Full Screen" button. Exit game and it saves this option. Next time you start game it will start in full screen. It seems I didn't word myself properly. The game already IS in the "Full Screen" mod...
