Re: Number of turns
My experience is similar to Hazelbark but we did have one game where the British first division with its Guards, Highland and KGL brigades all failed their CMTs for double moves in the first and second turns. Later on the Guards failed all sorts of other tests and were routed by a frontal cavalry ch...

Re: Emperors and Eagles – historical look at Peninsular sect
Thanks for the various responses. Hazelbark - Yes, I had noted the errata. In my experience we have used light infantry in formations other than skirmish quite a bit. (Though my armies are very slow in the making I have been playing with what I have and a friend's 25mm armies so we have played quite...

Emperors and Eagles – historical look at Peninsular section
So what is the point of this – some sort of hatchet job? Let us hope not. My intention is to review E&E from the point of view of the history of the Peninsular War as I see it. I do not intend to go into much detail on the areas which I know have already been covered, except to add some differen...

Re: Basing for 28mm figures
I can see that going for 15mm scale bases would allow you to use 15mm movement but the trouble for me is that 16 figures just does not look enough, whilst 24 seems ideal. All a matter of opinion, of course.

Basing for 28mm figures
The following is my choice for basing my very slowly emerging 28mm armies. It is not suggested that this ‘the’ way to do it, merely my way that you may wish to consider. The NEWSmen find that this works for us. (What do you mean who are the NEWSmen? Why the Newmarket and Ely Wargamers of course – we...

Re: Quick General Question on concepts and formations
"Seldon wrote: What does the extended line formation represent ? I assume it is not simply all battalions in line since indeed unreformed infantry are already considered in line, so is it something else ? Like Grand Bandes or what else ? As a non-author it looks to me like a brigade mostly in l...

Re: Question re Basing
Hi John The simple answer is to do what suits you, particularly as you have armies for both sides. I am tempted by 40mm frontage for 28mm figures (it allows me to have 4 French grenadiers on a base and then I can converge them for some battles/ scenarios and also gets the standard in the centre of t...

Re: Anglo-Portuguese list in the Rules Book
"The unit is a regiment not a brigade (althhough not much different for the British)." I do not think the suggestion is that the rules are not "Regimental" for armies other than the British but in the case of the British they are clearly not Regimental but Brigade. For example, a...

Re: Attachments
If I understand correctly, a fuller answer here is that in buying an attachment you do not lose the ability of the infantry base that you are having substituted by an artillery base. The ability of the infantry base remains but is enhanced by the artillery attachment. ie the infantry continues to fi...

Re: Anglo-Portuguese list in the Rules Book
"IIRC by the end of the pennisula the coalition divisions were commonly 3 brigades. 1-2 of these brigades were portugeuse. English Brigade 2-3 Battalions Port Brigade 2 Regiments of 2 battalions and a Cacadore battalion. That was roughly common I thought by 1812-13" _ Agreed that it was co...

Anglo-Portuguese list in the Rules Book
A few comments on the list: Not sure why the Portuguese need to be in a Division with British. It was typical but the southern army that fought at Albuera included Hamilton's Portuguese Division The Light Division had two brigades, each made up of one or two British Light battalions, up to a battali...

FOGN errata
A couple of things I noticed on my initial read through.
Artwork references for pages 90 and 102 are the wrong way round.
Page 63 I think the last word should be actual rather than accrual
Hardly of any great significance but you may want to amend them for subsequent printings.

FOGN for the Peninsular War - artillery
I very much like the scale of FOGN for the Peninsular War for infantry and cavalry. It should make battles like Salamanca easily achievable. However, for artillery I am less happy that this is the right path for this theatre. If we look at the Anglo-Portuguese army at Salamanca the infantry division...

Re: Wyszogrod in Grand Campaign 39
Getting marginal victories does not change your route in the 39 campaign. There is a thread on this page that shows the paths for all of the DLCs. brettz123Senior Corporal - Destroyer Thanks for the reply. I have found the thread which is very useful. However, it does confirm that in the 39 campaign...

Thanks for the reply. I obviously missed that nuance in the objective. I will get stuck in again and play to the full conclusion.

Wyszogrod in Grand Campaign 39
When I tried Wyszogrod I took all the objectives on the map but the game continued and did not give me a decisive victory. Is there a problem with this scenario or have I missed something? I definitely took all the marked objectives.

Wyszogrod in Grand Campaign 39
I am playing Wyszogrod in Grand Campaign 39. To get a Decisive Victory I need to hold all objectives. On my map these are: Lowicz 5,19 Kuznocin 10,16 Sochaczew 13.13 Modzieszyn 11,10 Wysogorod 11,7 Vistula River 12,7 I have checked by looking at the full board and holding the space key. I hold all t...
