Am I right that all fire at chargers now hits on a 4, or am I reading it wrong?
If it is the case this would seem contrary to the goal of making stuff happen more quickly as it makes charges even harder.

Re: FOG N 2nd Edition - it's back!
All sounding good Richard. Some other possible "exceptions" to the artillery rules would be Ottoman armies (which need to have more than one unit for the immobile big guns) and guard divisions with their own artillery. For example the 1814 French where the Guard are not an ally, but are in...

Re: FOG N 2nd Edition - it's back!
Some possible issues with the restriction on all artillery units been in the same division are allied divisions and and horse artillery in cavalry divisions. Presumably an allied division should be allowed to field an artillery unit that can not be added to a division of another nationality? As for ...

Re: FoG:R Update - List Changes
Oh, I don't know. "Possible" covers quite a bit of damage... FOG-AM's treatment of the Incas smells more of "not giving a rat's arse" than actual malice. You want a ruleset where the list author must have actively detested the Incas (because I'm not certain it would have been po...

Re: FoG:R Update - List Changes
Yeah they were stupidly good in WRG 7th. Played against them many time but didn't yet have the army myself. I've come to the conclusion that there is a wargame rules imperative to insure that certain armies are always competitive, while those not on that list are a complete crapshoot. In the Bronze ...

Re: FoG:R Update - List Changes
One interesting thing is that the Inca actually do better in FOG R than in A. They are actually quite resilient. They still get speed-humped by armies with significant mounted but anyone running one of those "nothing but late European infantry" armies is in for a tough time. Ever since V2 ...

Whereabouts are you in Sydney? I thought the small group I played with were the only ones in this neck of the woods.

I think any change that makes a broad range of units more resilient will tend to result in the game taking longer.

Re: Mounted Points
Cavalry who can evade should cost the same as horse. Cavalry who cant evade should cost slightly less. For the sake of simplicity I would probably just have all cavalry and horse cost the same.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney - Cancelled
Is that "Grand Battles Napoleon"? I have heard mixed things but to be honest pretty much wrote it off because I'm still happy with FOGN and it looked like it would require re-basing, which is a road I don't want to go down again! I was interested, however, to see another set of rules that,...

Re: FOGAM3
Interesting announcement. Look forward to seeing V3 and/or participating in Beta if it is possible. Didn't think the gap between the different troop qualities was too big, it just didn't cost/save enough points to go from one to another so everyone always took superior whenever they could (except wi...

artillery and cavalry attachments Haven't found cav attachments all that bothersome. I tend to agree that artillery attachment have become a bit over-represented and are a very good buy for the points. Terry has already suggested that availability may be an issue, but as some armies should have a l...

Army initiative in comps
Just an idle thought that occurred to me..... Should we be using army initiative bonus in open comps? They seem to primarily represent an armies level of aggression in a particular campaign/strategic situation. If you are playing a comp game of 1798 Piedmontese against 1814 Russian are they still re...

Are we playing with the full deployment rules where you can potentially get another 40 point unit? Want to know if I need to bring an extra unit just in case.

Re: Attacking when defending?
No problem. I dont think it would be wise to make unreformed infantry less capable of attacking by insisting on March Columns. I'm finding them harder to win with as it is (although this may just be a reflection of inexperience). Not going to stop playing with them though, the Austrians have always ...

Re: Attacking when defending?
I have often found myself attacking/counter-attacking in games where I am the defender recently. This has been for a number of reasons -The hill does almost nothing for you. I see little reason to cling to it. -If using a large army (I have been using 1805 Austrians with 18 regiments) defending pass...

Have you paid 32 points for the large infantry units? Shouldn't they be 48 (6x8)?

Re: Emperors & Eagles - French Allied Contingents
I would see it as meaning that you can combine the troops of different nationalities in a division as long as you don't have 3 or more units of any of those nationalities in your army. Once you have 3 units they must be in a division of their own.
