Habsburgs are loveable really

Greetings gentlemen, I am setting up a new tournament covering the Habsburgs from the early 16th Century until the early 18th Century. Players will be either Habsburg or one of the historical enemies of the Habsburgs of Spain or the Holy Roman Empire. So there will be 2 teams of up to 6 players in e...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

It was my mistake, I misinterpreted the rules. So my move stands. Ironclad will be very busy this turn. I think for a future campaign you should only be able to spend money you have in the bank at the beginning of the turn. Raising taxes is a long drawn out painful process, much slower than marching...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

Are you sure? I read it as it takes a turn to raise the funds and they are available next turn.
Otherwise I would have done a different move, I was counting on neither you and Lysmichos being able to do anything this move as you had spent all your cash and your treasuries were empty

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

A question for the Umpire..

How have Hannover and Austria been able to launch attacks into Danish territory when they have insufficient funds?
Hannover has 5,000 talers and Austria 20,00 talers, a Major attack costs 35,000 talers.

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

I actually meant "are we playing a new version of the campaign rules?"

As we are not I will submit my move.

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

Before I post my move I'd like to ask what the changes are in the new version if that is what we are playing. Also from next Monday I will be away for six weeks on holiday in Cambodia and Thailand, and won't be taking my laptop. So I would ask that Ironclad be employed as a mercenary commander to fi...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

Gribol proved a most worthy opponent, until the final rounds the results were very very even, then his army collapsed. Our Strategic victory has become a tactical victory due to his hastily erected fortifications, So only half of the citizens of Gelderland have obtained the freedoms, and superior ch...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

No fortune favours the tricky Hannoverian who intersperses his musketeers with selected cavalry units, rather than massing the cavalry on the wings like a true Gentleman.
However right (and an extra 200 points) will prevail over this sheer effrontery

Re: Thirty Years War French Phase

This campaign has ended with another good round for the Antis winning 5 battles to 3. The Imperialists started well, round 1 antis 3 pro 5 round 2 5 9 round 3 6 15 an amazing 5 win advantage to the Imperials round 4 12 17 a very good 4 win advantage to the Antis round 5 17 20 So the Imperials win, b...

Re: Thirty Years War French Phase

Reports have come in that Dilly has won a very hard fought battle against SMJohnso77 by 52% to 60%

That leaves only the battle between Ciberpencho and AHuyton to be completed.

Re: Thirty Years War French Phase

The French flank march did its job, I had my defensive line all set up to take on the French when 9 units arrived behind my right flank. The units I had to detach to deal with them fatally weakened my main line. Its the most effective flank march I've ever seen, normally they just weaken their army ...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

Both very hard fought battles. The Danish are hampered by not having any medium or heavy artillery, or any of those pesky light horse hussars.
However a 10% (open battle) or 15% (defensive battle) disadvantage in numbers makes it very hard to not lose to a Major attack.

Re: Thirty Years War French Phase

I presume everyone has figured out it is the Spanish army of 1635-1648, its the only one that covers that year,

sorry for the confusion,

Thirty Years War French Phase

We enter the final phase of the campaign. The French have moved from being the financier of armies that oppose the Habsburgs to being the army that fights the Habsburgs. It is the year 1648, Leopold Whilhelm of Austria leads a Spanish army of 1645 to 1648 to resist the Duke of Conde who leads a Fren...

Re: Thirty Years War Swedish Phase

This phase is indeed complete. A massive turn around with 6 wins to the Antis and only 2 to the Imperials, so the score is 12 wins and 3 draws to the antis, 17 wins and 3 draws to the Imperials. So the Antis must do even better than this round to win the Tournament. The individual scores of the Anti...

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

I have launched a Major attack into Silesia, my opponent has opted for a defensive battle. I can't set it up for 1675 points, it must be in multiples of 100 so have set it up for 1700. We will expect extra beer and sausages when we occupy Breslau.

Re: CAMPAIGN ANNO DOMINI 1740

A winner gains one or two morale points depending on the level of the victory. Does the loser lose the same number of points? I cannot see anywhere that you lose morale points
