Thanks. Your insights help me a lot. I'm keeping my eyes open on brands. The Xyston lines look great, but I'll have to order my own BGs from the WarWeb site (gasp) as opposed to just clicking on a pre-packaged box. Maybe that's the way to go whatever brand I go for.
Thanks again,
Bill

Small armies or starter army?
I've made a decision about what my first army will be. The rules are in hand and Rise to Rome will be in my mailbox perhaps tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to start with Mid Republican Roman and/or Carthaginians. My dilemma is: do I purchase a Roman starter army from either Old Glory or Donnington (I'...

Re: Composition
you should state what do you want play because I can help you. Siena: 1200-1250 Previous to their eventual submission to Firenze. I would like to then get a Florentine army for them to battle against. Maybe that's later this year. At the moment, I'm taking rbodleyscott's advice and compiling a bunc...

Composition
So what minis would you guys order to make a starter communal Italian army, given that the list is not yet available? Should I just excercise patience and order in July? Should I just order based on a 'generic' medieval army or make it similar to one of the starter armies already available? Maybe I'...

Ordering
I'm going to contact Mirliton and start assembling a 15mm Communal Italian starter army and some of those paper flags. I'm going to pre-order Oath of Fealty from Amazon this weekend. Is there something I should focus on with my starter army or maybe some combination that I should avoid. I'm assuming...

Thanks
Thanks for all of your insights. When I'm ready to place a miniature order, I'll consult again with you if Oath of Fealty is not out yet. BTW, it's not on the preorder lists on the Osprey web site yet.
Thanks,
Bill

Suggestions and focus
Thanks for your suggestions. I found Mirliton a few days ago and a few distributors in the US. I'm not much of a tournament guy. I was looking at Mirliton's Italian Communal line. I'd like to set up armies more for the 13th century - before Siena was under the control of Firenze [dang plagues]. Batt...

13th/14th Century Siena and Florence
I'm ordering FoG and the Storm of Arrows book in the coming week. I want to build Siena and Florence armies in medieval Italy. Will I find the appropriate lists in the Arrows book? I need to order minis, too and I'd like to make sure I get starter armies right. Looking forward to the game. I'll late...
