Re: Simulating the Waterloo Battle with 800p Lists
Dear Hazelbark, This is exactly the kind of feedback we need. We have not played much of FoG-N lately, our main focus being FoG-Renaissance. So we are not able to see where things are going to stuck right away. The photo presented here is our first attempt to put the models on the table in order to ...

Re: Simulating the Waterloo Battle with 800p Lists
We are working on a simplifiacation of the waterloo battle that could be playable with FoG-N on a normal 180cm x 120cm table. We have tried to fit the majority of the renown units in order to keep the "flavor" of the battle. We did not want to include each and every unit down to the last c...

Simulating the Waterloo Battle with 800p Lists
Hi all,
we would like to create 2 lists that would give the flavor of the battle of waterloo.
One list would be French and the other would be British with Prussian Ally.
The lists should be 800pts so that a game would not be too long.
Can anybody give any suggestion on how to do it?

inspired commander and cmt
Do I get an extra +1 on a CMT roll for having an inspired commander in line of command and in command range if he is not with the testing battle group?

Please help me make some lists with available figures
Please help me make some lists with available figures We have given up FOGN because it is darn difficult. We find the rules being a lot more difficult than both FOG-Ancients and FOG-Renaissance. Making a list is almost a nightmare as well with all those restrictions. However, we thought we should gi...

Basing question about attachments
I understand that you base a skirmisher attachment on a 40x30 mm base that substitutes one of the unit's base. Same thing for an artillery attachment. But, how do you model a cavalry attachment on an infantry unit or an officer attachment? Do I have to substitute a base with another 40x30 base or ju...

Are lists based on the main rulebook army lists valid?
I am not an experienced FOGN player.
I have made some lists that are based on the Army Lists included in the main rule book.
Would these lists be valid for a tournament?
Or should I only pick a list from the dedicated army list books?

Interception charge meets enemy BG
What happens when an interception charge meets (partially) an enemy BG, other than the original charges. In a game yesterday, an interception of a group of knights on a charging group of cavalry would take place only if intervening LF would evade to clear the way that was otherwise physically blocke...

Re: A complicated situation...
Thanks John, this really healps and also makes sense! After all this is why the Light Dragoons stayed and fought: they sort of sacrifised themselves to protect the infantry. If they had not countercharged, the French houssars would be otherwise able to complete their assault move and charge the infa...

Re: Cavalry Tactics
Cavalry being almost a one-shot weapon is something I really like in FOGN. Very different to that "Double-Based Knight General" concept... I find cavalry usefull in: 1. skirmishing (light cavalry in single rank) 2. driving off enemy skirmishes, reducing dice in medium range 3. forcing enem...

Re: A complicated situation...
So what do other people think?
Cavalry in tactical formation has any dice advantage over cavalry in skirmish formation or not?
We assumed that cavalry in extended line refers in non-skirmished cavalry (e.g. heavy) .

A complicated situation...
Today we had a rather complicated situation. One end of the British line was defended by a unit of Line Infantry (Average, Drilled, with skirmisher attachment) in extended line and a unit of Light Dragoons (Average, Drilled). The French are trying to flank them. They declare an assault on the Light ...

light infantry skirmisher formations
Light infantry in entirely skirmish mode is represented by bases in "loose formation" (e.g. 3 figures per base) I've been told that such a unit can either have all its bases in a single rank or in two ranks. Is this correct? I can't find the later in the rules. If this is correct, is there...

Firing over skirmishers
p.52: "Artillery is allowed to fire through enemy Skirmishers at valid targets beyond; as long as the target is at long range, the Skirmishers are nearer to the guns than the target and the Skirmishers are at least 2 MU away from both ." Does this mean that I can have a screen of Skirmishe...

Re: FOGN errata
As I read the rules over and over and play the game again and again things became clearer. However, I feel that what I need now is a better QRS, more detailed and up to date with all errata incorporated. I think that the authors should offer such a pdf to the gamming community as soon as possible. M...
