From my limited experience, if you are intenting to evade with LH, bows give a little more security with their longer shooting range, so may be better, especially if the target is unarmoured mounted.

Hi Daniel, I agree, impact horse is most appropriate for hussars, having an option as lancers is a retro step, but I was really only making a last minute plea before the next lists get published, that they be given some more variation, and not be so pre-set. Overall, I think the options in the clash...

Poles Again....

Now having Clash of Empires, is there any reason why there are no options with the winged hussars. With other lists, cavalry are given lots of options. The hakkapelita, as an example, have a choice of either melee pistol or swordsmen, armoured or unarmoured etc. By the early 30YW list, they even get...

Though I can't see why the hussars should be at a POA disadvantage vs pistols in melee. If drawing pistols, according to Daniels post, put the user at a distadvantage in melee, why would they get higher POA's in FOGR? Because the pistolier unit fights in a diffrent manner from the lancer unit. In a...

But didn't the hussars have pistols aswell, that would be used after their lance shattered? If this is not reflected in the lists, it would be dissapointing.

Thanks Richard, A couple more questions (for the moment!), is there a straight halberdier troop type, without musket? If so, approximately how many bases could be used, and would it be 4 figures to a base? Also, with the petyhortsy, are they lance armed cavalry? Sorry for the questions, just trying ...

Just for some further help, thinking at about the 1600-1660 period;

- would 8 bases of pancerni (armoured) cover the minimum

- is there provision for light horse with lance (eg cossacks)

- can you have too much light horse?
