Re: What do Panzer Corps veterans feel about PzC2?
If you liked PC1, buy this game. It's better than the 1st in almost every way. Nearly everything can be customized to your taste, so it's pretty easy to fine tune the experience based on what you want out of it. The graphics look great. It can be pretty hard to tell units apart, but there are some w...

That makes the install a bit harder, but nothing that you couldn't figure out with the help of Dr. Googlekoopanique wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 6:37 pm That's what I would do... but I'm on a laptop. Anyway, I'll find a way to play PzC2!

Re: Question on System Specs?
That should do the trick for most people, I think. But 8g memory at the *minimum* is starting to be harder. 8g memory is, I would say, slightly above average for people not used to play very demanding games. You can buy 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM for $30-$40 and it's very easy to install even if you have n...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
I personaly never had problem with that i have tu surround unit with my units soo he cant escape and i can get equipment, especialy when you can split them, then you need just 3 units that can merge instantly after attack. This is a fair point. Just to be clear: Do you mean that I can split a unit,...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
I was given balance reason why this is the case which I understand. Basically if the retreat out of encirclement is not possible the encirclement mechanic becomes too powerful. That's all fine but I still think the main issue is communicating this to the player via the UI. I know it's not practical...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
Encirclement is relatively easy to achieve This is true, but it's significantly harder to encircle a unit AND kill/suppress all of its fighting strength (to force retreat). Unless a unit is extremely vulnerable or already damaged, you need a lot of firepower to accomplish this. At minimum, 2-3 effe...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
Allow me to frame this question a different way: In Panzer Corps, is it ever possible to move into an enemy ZoC hex and then keep moving on the same turn? Yes, but only in two specific situations. 1) Using a recon car with flexible pathing and 2) While making multiple retreats. For any unit other th...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
Movement is already an enormously complex system in Panzer Corps. I'll fudge the numbers slightly, but the first Panzer Corps had 8 types of Unit Movement, 16 types of Hex Terrain, and 3 different Ground Conditions. That's 384 values. Every move is a special case! That's not to say that complexity j...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
@Kerensky Your point about splitting is well-taken; that's a good opportunity for meaningful trade-offs! However, I see no reason to take a hard stance on sub-rules. A retreat-move doesn't have to be identical to a standard-move. A retreat-move could use extra MPs, for example. For the sake of discu...

Re: Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
Encircled is not enveloped. If you want to get technical, encirclement is a type of envelopment. An envelopment is any attack carried out on an enemy flank. For example, a single envelopment involves only 2 directions of attack. To quote the US army field manual: "Encirclement operations are o...

Thoughts on Encirclement and Retreat
It's a bit frustrating that an encircled unit can retreat out of encirclement. Let's say there's an enemy heavy tank; it's near full strength but encircled and suppressed. If you attack it and cause it to retreat out of the encirclement, then it will be fully supplied on the enemy turn. If you don't...

Re: Best use of engineers
I disagree a bit here. They have better mechanical defense than infantry defense. I had to go look it up, but you are correct for the early parts of the war. In the later years the infantry defense increases past the mechanical defense. But I was also surprised to see that, for every year, standard...

Re: Best use of engineers
Something to keep in mind: engineers are extremely vulnerable to enemy tanks. Keep them supported with a powerful AT gun when they're on the front line.

Re: Endsige help with Ardennenoffensive
* Minor Spoilers ahead * This was a tough one for me. My first two attempts I directed my primary attack along the north side of the map, grabbing the fuel depot along the way to Liege. That approach is definitely possible, but I struggled to push across the open ground near the city without taking ...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #6
It seems like all of these maps types are defined by the presence or lack of water tiles. In that vein I would suggest "Strait" and possibly "Peninsula" types."Strait" would be defined as two continental areas separated by a relatively narrow sea. Something like Sicily/...

Exactly. Hence why tanks can fight in forests (but not "dense" forests).ivanov wrote:It's not a hardcore simulation but rather slightly more advanced beer and pretzels, roughly based on the history

Re: Unreliable too unreliable
A couple observations on moving unreliable units: -They do not lose efficiency if you move them by rail -They do not lose efficiency if you switch their position with an adjacent unit (control + click) While still cumbersome, early tigers are very effective at defending cities along rail lines. Late...

Re: Allied Corps: Salerno AI exploit
I think it's a credit to the great level design (or my own incompetence) that this was the first time I managed to fool the AI in a significant way. Maybe I've been spoiled by the major improvements in scripting since the original campaign. Looking back, I had overextended both my core and my cortex...
