Won a set of the Romans today, so I'm very pleased :)

I was wanting to do my first set of 28mm, so I guess this makes my mind up for me.

Thanks

Fabulous models, and a real inspiration!

Could you provide some guidance on how you base them please?

Thanks

Mike, They are all vertical but the base and hand positions are such that the top of the pikes are maybe 5 mm out of alignment between the two variants. And, as you know, 5mm can make quite a difference ;) The Xyston models are nice, but seem to have variable attention to packing detail. In particul...

Pikemen

I have Xyston Macedonian Pikemen packs that contain two different models and this results in the attached pike being at different angles depending on the model. For asthetic reasons should I try to use the same figures on each base so that the pikes are uniform, or just mix them about? Or is there m...

Stepping Forward

Quick question about stepping forward. In the diagram base X has impacted BG A and base Y would contact A if it steps forward, however base Z will not contact A if it steps forward. Am I right in thinking that Z cannot move at all, and if Y were to lose contact with Z in stepping forward it can't mo...

Thanks for the advice.

I hadn't noticed the requirement for "Other Companion Cavalry". I built my list from the Starter Army which also doesn't include them. Is the Starter Army also illegal, or am I missing something (quite likely as I'm a complete beginner)?

Alexandrian Macedonian

Time to start my second army... How does this look? I like the idea of massed Pike, but I'm not sure if the balance is correct, so all help and advice is much appreciated. Paul, thanks for the really detailed reply. I'll certainly try what you recommend! Nik, I originally chose the army as I was interested in Agincourt. It was only later that I realised the army is really only longbowmen, men-at-arms, and a muddy field! I added the skirmishers and knights so that I co...

Help With First Battle

Hi, I'm about to embark on my first battle tomorrow evening with my shiny new English HYW army against the dreaded French. Although I've got a decent grasp of the rules I'm new to FoG and table-top wargaming in general. I would really appreciate some tips on how to handle the battle. I have 800 poin...

Mike,

Thanks for the great advice!

Lots to think about, so I'll have a good look at the army list again before I get my credit card out :)

Many thanks

English 100 Year War (Continental)...advice please

Hi, I'm new to FoG and tabletop gaming in general, and would appreciate some help. I have the 600 point 100 YW English (Continental) starter army for Storm of Arrows, and would like some ideas on how to build this up to 800 points. If possible I'd like to add some different BG types, mounted, skirmi...
