Thank you for the replies, especially the moderator/team replies. This sums up my basic feelings although, looking forward, my hope is that some brave publisher changes to the 80mm frontages in the future as metal figures are not getting smaller and I have a preference for heavy foot to look like fo...

80mm Big Basing

I am having a debate of conscience with myself and other gamers in my area. I am advocating a switch in basing for 25mm armies to 80mm frontages instaead of the old standby 60mm WRG frontages. With the increasing size of metal miniatures, and the new Wargames Factory plastics being of similar build,...

And in case I did not mention it, the Esex starter armies are a great launching point for your customized army.

I am considering a few myself but am waiting for the "Swords and Scimitars" armies to show up, esp. Late Crusader.

Gosh, prinny, I would have to recommend more voltigeurs since they are a little expensive but I like having more drilled foot BGs for my battle line to help them get into place. And as almost all of your troop choices are average quality and you already have three BGs of French knights (your only su...

I am working a list now for Livonian Confederation vs. Novgorod to simulate the Battle of the Ice, aka Lake Peipus, in 1242. I am relying heavily on the Late Crusader list from "Swords and Scimitars" and blending it with the DBM IV/30 list to fight a mix of the Estonian IV/27 and Post-Mong...

Thanks, Marc, I was worried about having to cut all my 15th C. men-at-arms off of their bases.

I look forward to getting the rules this week-end and the Wargames Factory plastics when they ship!

Basing Enquiry

I am awaiting a copy of the rulebook (no store in town had one on the shelf) and was wondering if anyone could go over the basics of FoG basing; e.g. frontage, minis per troop type, depth?

Just curious how much rebasing I may have to do from my existing DBA and DBM armies.

Thanks,

- Larry
