I have used this stratagem - only in practice/friendly games, though I would have no qualms using it or having it used against me in a tournament - I found it less useful at getting reliably open terrain than using steppes. Its biggest effect is surprising (and possibly annoying) your opponent if ...

Re: Company Suggestions for Roman miniatures (25/28mm)
I just picked up the rules set today and would like to put together a Roman force. Besides Warlords Games and Wargames Factory are there any other miniature companies that I should look into?
Your input would be greatly appreciated!
Honestly, I can't see why you would look past Warlord? Multi ...

Baggage
Just because I'm lazy - and I don't have my rules on hand, can someone tell me if baggage will affect an enemy BG from getting a second move?

Hi All,
I have a question which came up twice in the last little while which I couldn't find a solution in the rules.
I'm sure some of you rules experts will say 'it's explained in full on p98' without having to look it up, but the ...

Best army for a defensive / offensive player
Hi All,
I'm wondering on opinions on different armies.
I've mentioned before that sometimes having an army that you like isn't one that suits your personality.
For example, I absolutely love Hoplites and Vikings, but I'm a player who likes to plan ahead calmly and move into position and wait for ...

Another point to be made as well... Had this battle actually occurred in real life there would have been no conquest of the Arabian lands. It would have petered out into nothing. By the end of the battle I think Muz had only 1/4 of his command structure left intact to order said conquest - the rest ...

Re: Rearranging Bases
I play Nikephorian byzantine and use a mixed unit with 4 base mf archers and 4 base hf def spears.
When i move the unit can i rearrange all the bases ?, i found no rule that i can't.
E.g. if the spears are all 1st and all the mf 2nd rank, can i take in a move the spears to the
2nd rank and the ...

Re: Close game
Of course the arabs had it under control the whole game - were never concerned - 8 lancer cav v 10 superior cataphracts - not a worry.
Was an excellent game - thanks Ian
Yes, the Romans thought THEY had it in hand too - 12 bases of Superior Armoured Impact Foot vs 8 bases of Superior Protected ...

Armageddon
Hi All,
I played 4 games at Armageddon. All four were enjoyable played against gentlemen, and I'd like to thank them all for the games played.
By far the game I enjoyed the most (with no denegration to the others) was my first game on Sunday with Palmyrans (me) vs Arab Conquest.
The reason for ...

Also there's the fact that base losses hurt the knights more - each time you lose a base you lose two combat dice.
So that when your BG of 4 Kn loses a bases it only outnumbers the cav 6 dice to 4. Bummer
Yeah, that's if you're a total f***ing moron and constantly go base to base against knights ...

And, having visited India a couple of years ago, I can confirm that Indian fortresses (in Rajasthan at least), very often have specific defences to stop Elephants pushing down gates (spiky stuff riveted firmly to the outside of the gate and narrow corners to make it hard to maneuver one's elephant ...

With all these 'Horror Stories' there must be a fair number of dice being rolled for Hammy's 'statistics' to work out. I mean, we're talking 3.5 (in all dice rolled) average roll here... but then I guess if I roll snake eyes and 'he' rolls box cars, then it's average of 3.5... it just doesn't feel ...

Yes, but as for pro golfer they would need a hole in straight line to see the target, but to hit target at great distance they would need a parabolic one. A problem without solution
