Why would that be?

I mean, I wouldn't want to delve into production secrets, but discussing decisions based on public domain (ie historical) information shouldn't breach an NDA?

Or do I overlook something?

So, could you be so nice to list all your sources?

I for my part would be greatly interested in an established variant of FOG that wouldn't need much over 25 elements per side - indeed thinking DBA+ or DBMM100/200 :o

... I personally have little idea what ratio of Han Chinese cavalry were armed with halberd or lance! Neither do I in that case :o Hmm, I'm not familiar with the FOG army lists, but they may give a rough historical breakup of relative troop compositions - I know some other systems that do. Otherwis...

Re: Mounted armed with light spear- why choose this over lan

Historical reasons? For when an army roster shows a certain percentage of lance armed and spear armed cavalry at a specific battle or in a specific campaign?

Xyston's models are beautiful, though they are 18mm (later ranges getting larger). I think that shouldn't stop anyone, unless you wanted to combine them with others.

Though being an older range, Tumbling Dice (now produced by Toolshed Miniatures) offers a great variety for all classical greek eras.

At the moment I will play what I have in the size FOG demands, and that would be Late Republican (Marian) Roman, the only DBM-sized army I have - I will use what I can from that, and add what I need. Though that's just for a quick beginning. Normally I strictly go by historical interest (in FOG's ca...

Re: Is it the game, the setting or the hobby?

I was wondering how this question would skew to this game's audience. ... Hmm, my answer is history and the accompanying research. I feel I can't answer that question clearly, as that interest could be met with most of the historical systems out there. Unless you mean historical wargaming in genera...

Metal for me, and only metal at that. The reason is not logical but easily to explain - biography. When I got my first miniatures, metals were a subjective step up from plastics. That feeling has stuck. Nowadays it seems to be the other way round, not the least due to the influence of Games Workshop...
