Re: 1809 Austrian Ratings

EK Legion should be Light Infantry, drilled, conscript, 0-6 bases. Some battalions were 1000+ strong and were intended to be allocated on a 2 battalion basis to II, III & IV Corps. Some battalions were packed out with Landwehr volunteers, so option of poor might be justified. 1st EKL possibly mi...

Re: 6mm naps

It works OK - we've been toying with migrating from Polemos's General de Divison/Marechald'Empire to FOGN. Bases are broadly compatible but gets a bit awkward with large infantry units as all our bases are 60 x 30mm. Also attachments have to be either notional or external to the unit - which I, for ...

Re: Austrian Landwehr (1809)

Assuming standard 'model' of 6 companies to a battalion, 1 was rifle armed and 'trained' in the LI role. Trained is probably a bit of an exaggeration in many respects but the jaeger companies were recruited from the game keeper/hunting communities of their base areas, so would have been a bit better...

Re: Austrian Grenze

Grenze weren't good at close fighting - just not in their psychy - or appropriate to their peacetime role as border guards operating in small groups (classic light infantry tactics). Certainly there was a lack of appreciation of how to best use their skills in the early years and that also may have ...

Austrian Landwehr (1809)

The vast majority of Landwehr (and volunteer) battalions has a least 1 jaeger company armed with rifles. If all the unit had rifles, you add 1 per base to the points cost . If you add a skirmished attachment and that was rifle armed, then that's covered. But what about the above situation? Do you ta...

Austrian Grenze

Lists have them as poor drilled light infantry or average irregular skirmishers, later lists only the irregular option. Can I ask on what evidence this classification is based? Of the 17 Regiments, 1 - 14 were 'regular' and the other 3 classified as 'irregular'. 1805 the Grenze had domestic politica...

Re: Bavarian 1809 List

Only 3rd Div had 2 Light Battalions, so could be combined a single small unit or parceled out a skirmisher attachments. The other 2 divs each have 2 brigades each of 2 Regts of 2 battalions plus a single light battalion in first brigade. My suggestion was that one unit could be large or 2 small unit...

Bavarian 1809 List

Since the ToN Errata thread appears to be closed, posting here. :) 1) All 3 Bavarian Divs were mixed - each had 2 infantry brigades and 1 cavalry brigade. So a division would be 4 small inf units, 2 small cavalry units and a foot artillery unit. 1st & 3rd Divs had a dragoon unit and light cav un...

Re: Multiple shots at same target

Thanks - I think I found the line which we were looking for - page 54, column 2, penultimate para, last line - "Add together the hits on a single unit from all sources.....". Dragoons took 4 hits, which is -2 cohesion points but per bullet point three re fire not from including any from cl...

Multiple shots at same target

Situation - French small dragoon unit moves up the side of a wood and into the arc of 2 small Austrian medium artillery units. Neither artillery unit has a valid target within range/1Mu pivot and nor were they within 2MU of each other. So both shoot separately at the dragoons, each inflicting 2 hits...
