I see that the artillery should not have had the option to shoot and abandon guns, unless they were horse artillery who could evade after any shooting. They had no friendly infantry nearby.
They would have had to stand and fire (close range), possibly running (abandoning guns) as a result of a ...

Assaulted artillery question.
In a game yesterday the following situation arose and I just want to check that we dealt with it properly.
A prussian medium artillery found itself isolated and was charged by french heavy cavalry. The french were more than 4" away, so the prussians hads the option to stand and fire (then abandon ...

Re: Hitting squares in the flank
It seems to me that you form square to avoid offering your flank to the enemy cavalry. Therefore, your opponent should not have caused the extra cohesion loss for flank contact on your French infantry. Otherwise, it would defeat the object of forming squares when the enemy cavalry are close.

Re: CMT to enter building and cross obstacles.
Cheers for that.
I can go with that i think. There are plenty enough records of units and formations (or at least the commanding officers of those units) pig-headedly ignoring orders, misinterpreting orders or simply failing to receive them causing awful snarl ups in the progress of a battle.

CMT to enter building and cross obstacles.
We have been playing a few games of FOG over Christmas and really getting into it. I like the way the game mechanism models Napoleonic warfare. However, there's a couple of situations which seem weird to me and I was hoping someone might explain the rationale behind the rules here.

Re: March column in combat and firing
Thanks for these speedy responses. They are the answers I hoped for.
For some strange reason, the march column combat modifier is missing from my reference cards, though I can see this modifier clear as day in the rulebook now that you point it out.

March column in combat and firing
Hello all,
I am just getting into this game and really like the look of it. I'm hoping you can help with a rule issue we had.
We couldn't find any mention in the rulebook, but is a column of march punished in combat any way. I can see that a march column will only get 4 die in close combat (same ...
