You don't say what the first army you faced actually was. Some version of late Roman army. I think it was Dominant Roman. it seems you only fought one opponent with much in the way of shooters and no 'proper' knight army. Here is the link to my battle reports from Natcon 2010, where I used this army. As you will see, I didn't go very well. This, however, had nothing to do with the composition of the army. It was, sadly, all due to how I used it.

A LRR army is all about legionaries. It looks to me like to chose a mixed-arms tournament army and added in some legionaries because you had to. Caesar would be so ashamed.
