All Books in 3 comps is the want.
C3000 BC to 81 BC 80 BC to 1040 AD 1041 AD to c1500 AD Why 81 BC what is the split there? You have legions before and after. I see the 1041 is to get all the knights late. But you pratically eliminate the armoured knights by doing this. As they are unviable if heavy knights abound. I have usually f...

March on Central Coast
Max, what a coincidence I was talking to other people at MOAB about the possibility of themed comps! I also was talking about the Central Coast Wargames Club running a FoG themed comp in March as well! The advantage of having a comp on the Central Coast is that it is half way between Newcastle and ...

Shove them where!
I would put all the Americans in your pre 80BC, as they are all pre-iron age. Thank you philqw78 that is a good place to put them in, and all in the one themed time span of 3000 BC to 81 BC based on technology. I did not like the idea of placing them all in a post Columbian era which would mean in ...

Motivation
Dont mind the themes in general but Americas forces are not encouraged so if you field one you will loose 6% of your force points; 800 – 48 = 752p. 650 – 39 = 611ps. For this expenditure you will win initiative if a tied result score is achieved between you and your opponent, and who ever wins the ...

Field of Glory Some thoughts on themed competitions: Limitations will be place upon the date of an army entry; not on precluding any “Army List Book”. Dates articulated within an army list that provides a divide; 80 BC ‘Late Republican Rome’ only before 80 BC may Velites be classed as protected. Uti...

Heavy Chariots
Ok I have seen two thanks for the input of others. Immortal Fire --- Classical Indians may have HC until 'mid - 5th century AD' p32 & 34. Plus if as allies to any other list. Empires of the Dragon --- Later Hindu South Indian may have HC until 'before 900' AD p62. HC are not in LHSI allies list....

Heavy Chariots and Knight dates
No I do not wish them to go out together. Am I correct that the first date available for Knight Status is 'Wolves from the Sea' Norman p69 Milites from 1041? Am I correct that the last date for Heavy Chariot use is 'Empires of the Dragon' Warring States etc HC not available after 100 BC. Regards, Max

It is difficult to unlearn or ignor that which we know. We know from TV that people shoot and fire a gun in the act of discharge, by pulling a triger. Xbows and early firearms had large triggers that you squeezed with your thum on the stock, and trigger most likely being squeezed by your four finger...

FoG rule book and desigm philosphy
This topic thread questions if 800 ponits is too many for 15mm. I believe 800 points on a 6' x 4' table is optimal and 650 points for 25mm, on same sized table. For competitions in 15mm using these rules (FoG) I am of the view that it should not be accepted that a force contain more than 16 battle g...

I would much rather not finish games where there has been lots of hard fighting but no side totally breaks, instead of not finishing games because my victorious troops could not catch some units of enemy skirmishers even an hour after we have destroyed their main battle line in hard fighting tim De...

Dogs of War
You may use them as a modeling exercise --- defending laagers. Or put them with on your troop commanders bases.
Maybe one or two with a light foot jav BG. The dogs will have a positive effect on you morale. Have fun and enjoy!
Regards,
I like dogs so only do the above if you plan to win.

The Score Sheet is the issue
The score sheet for competition should be brought into line with the games design philosophy --- page 9.
The score sheet should start with 10 or less BGs and end with 15 or more battle groups.
Are their issues of inequity if the above was adopted?

I have used 1/72 scale soft plastic figure to make 25mm armies. I would prefer hard plastic figures that are bigger than 1/72 scale 22mm. I would prefer figures with less parts --- Hat are producing a range of hard plastic 28mm that may be what I will use. http://www.hat.com/current28.html What do p...
