make them darker in paint.net. more experimentation and you'll be surprised. they will end up as some shade of red or blue because green won't work. i've got red rails and blue roads is this screenshot the other way round? just wondering i think of the rails as kinda the "blood supply" for...

the two files you need to modify are LayerRails and LayerRoads. in paint.net or similar adjust the RGB and/or dark or light setting. they will look different in game than they do in paint.net so experiment. i ended up with navy blue roads and light red rails. easy to distinguish.

hotseat with a laptop or tablet not an option for you?

there is probably some way you could even wireless/remote connect one or two android devices to the pc/laptop with panzer corps on it and hotseat that way.

when (hopefully) i actually publish my ideas in the form of a mod some of them are radical. so much so they may be denounced rather than praised by people who just want more icons and other fluff. i'm aiming for PzC 1.5 with new rules/values that aren't just window dressing. the AI is bad with spott...

i am pleased to see there is sufficient interest in this 10 year old game that modmakers and the playerbase continue to support and improve it
also it seems that the PzC1 modding forum is more active that the PzC2 equivalent. good.

thanks for the comments so far, here's what i know/think true - there is a lot of potential in scripting in scenarios to make the AI less dumb - but you have to edit each and every scenario to do it. you can't even copy and paste scripts (for some reason). editing one file (equipment.pzdat) applies ...

AI reverse handicapping

The AI is .. dumb. Occasionally it's forces can give you a bloody nose and when given numerically superior forces it can challenge your skills but in general you will win no danger - maybe even "map wiping" the scenario. you can adjust the difficulty level of course to make you weaker/them...

how about doing away with the attached transport way of doing things altogether? just add 1 or 2 moves to an infantry unit to represent how much/want type of transport forms PART of that unit. increase costs for units so equipped maybe decrease the GD and AD to represent some vulnerability whist get...

very interesting. good luck with working it out. maybe there is some software that could help? maybe modders of some other similar games have "hacked" savegame files in a similar way?

it is a pure binary file AFAIK no encryption i have edited the hero values using a hex editor program but nothing more than that

if you could make the map look like a board game - maybe something like panzerblitz or some thing similar (more recent). just thinking it's a cut and paste job with internet search resources - no graphical skill required.
