I recently stripped a bunch of plastic figures using simple green. it works awesomely- soak it overnight and the paint comes off with a toothbrush. Yep: Simple Green + toothbrush = magic. I have used it on many (soft) plastic and metal figures with no problems. I had some metal Minifigs painted in ...

I believe that ally upgrades from the same list count against the main list minima and maxima so this wouldn't increase the Spartan upgrades at any rate. The only reason I was thinking about it was taking a TC CinC with 1-3 Ally TCs. So it was just a way to get 4 cheap TCs with the Spartans rather ...

Allies - can they be the same nation and same as the CinC?

Can you take multiple allies that are (1) from the same nation as the CinC and/or (2) the same nation as another ally. So with the Classical Greek, can you have a Spartan CinC with 3 Spartan Allies (and take all the Spartan upgrades in all four commands)? With Condotta, could you have a Florence Cin...

That should be fun. The option "4 A near-duplicate of a better list" is going to be annoying since it begs the question which list does the voter think is better. For instance, the only vote so far for Kushan is (4) - but what is the better list? In an ideal world, there would be some sort...

Taking "around" in a VERY wide sense - there are a number of 1/72 plastic EAP boxes (by Hat and Zvezda), covering spearmen and bowmen (both with big wicker shields and with crescent shields), light infantry, heavy and light cavalry, scythed chariots, and Greek allies. The Zvezda figures ar...

You mount your generals on a 40x40mm base for 15 mm. The models you use are either foot or mounted. I see the basing rules say a commander has a base depth of "40mm [60mm] or less" with the number of figures "as required*". The * says how they are depicted is "specified in ...

dude, base your generals however the heck you want. Wouldn't it matter for command range - a larger commander base will have a slightly bigger command radius? I am putting together an EAP army and was going to use chariots for all my generals - but wondered if that would be a problem in a comp. Pre...

"... make an official ruling on what the FoG standards will be for playing 25mm on larger tables!" And if the "official" answer was: "you must play 25mm on a 6x4 table with a 25mm MU, larger tables can not be used" - you would accept this? I am not sure there i...

I really appreciate the sentiment of the question, but I suspect the horse has well and truly bolted and it is every man for himself with 25mm. The only constant we know is that the 25mm base frontage is 50% bigger than the 15mm frontage. So to get the same game as a 15mm game on a 6'x4' table we wo...

Kushan

I am going to a competition shortly and one of the armies I was considering was Kushan. The Kushan army list won't be out in time for the comp, and I have never seen any beta lists. Now I am not looking for any state secrets - just anyone's comments on whether the list I was thinking about would be...

Shooting a bow while holding a big spear

Watching a game of FOG yesterday reminded me of a question I have long had: how did guys on horses who had a big spear/lance, and a bow actually manage to shoot - where did they put the lance while they fired the bow? Presumably a related question - would these guys hold their lances all day - seems...

1/72 foot would probably fit on a 40mm base - as long as they are in a fairly sedate pose. With some infantry poses you may need to cut down the number of figures on the base. Cavalry are more a problem - getting 3 cav figures on a 40mm base will often be too tight a squeeze. You could use 2 figs fo...
