I select my best cav, my best light infantry, two skirms/velites, and my four best heavy infantry in the lower left just off of the scrub terrain. The aim is to kill the enemy general, but there also seems to be a minimum time you must survive until. My cav waits a bit, then scoots around the enemy...

Help w/Aquitae Sextae
I didn't seem to have trouble w/this battle -- and forgive its spelling -- on the "Normal" settings, but after getting thru all the more challenging battles on the "Hard" setting, I am still stuck on this one fight. There's some scrub terrain in the center, but skirmishers and lt...

... Also support them with missile fire, skirmishers, velties, archers . Yes, send these missile troops after them at the start of battle to harass the elephants as they advance; if your men don't get too close, the elephants units may eventually lose heart and literally turn-tail w/o causing too m...

General Tips re GBR
As Rome, I've played thru this game twice, and it was easier the second time around because I concentrated on buying better troops w/more armor instead of just adding more troops to balance numbers. Apparently fewer, more superior units are the way to go early on, then build-up to 20 units later for...

Yes, you should have had to select the Roman campaign when completing the tutorial. Odd that I don't remember doing that; the only thing I recall was that my Latin troops were absorbed into the Roman Empire and we became Romans. Rome GB is a great little game, though I'm sure Legion has many more f...

New Campaign Choices
My thanks to everyone on this foum; your advice got me thru my first RGB campaign. The screen then gave me a choice of 3 peoples, from L to R: Latins, Romans (highlighted) and Celts. I assume the Latins were the same tutorial that merged into the Romans; in fact, the first Roman campaign was against...

Nevermind, I finally figured-it out. My cavalry charges the weaker army on the enemy left flank while I hold 2 units of heavy infantry far to the rear of my left flank; while my cavalry is dispatching the weaker enemy army, the stronger enemy army marches forward across the battlefield to enage my i...

Help w/the Battle at Messena
The Roman player is only allowed a handfull of units that have sortied from a fortress to engage two armies that together greatly outnumber them.
I choose mostly cavalry to remain mobile, but I can't beat this battle and I'm stuck.
Any advice?

You can download a pdf from www.slitherine.com/files/thcgbor/thc_pc_manual_eng.pdf Tnx, I finally had a chance to download and print the manual out at work. Aalthough the game has extensive tool tips, the manual will definately help; I'm just surprised there was nothing on the disk. I was always cu...

Which bargain version do you mean? I can't think of any version that ships without a manual. Last week for $10 US at Target, I purchased a new copy -- version 1.0250 (?) -- of GB Rome courtesy of CDV software; the only instruction w/the disc was an obligatory epilepsy warning, install info, tech su...

GB Rome manual?
Just picked-up the "bargain" version of GB Rome, but I can't find any pdf manual.
I went thru the tutorial easilly enough, but is there a manual somewhere on the disc?

Re: Rome Great Battles not os great?
it doesn't matter where you place troop types re terrain Hmmm. On the Mac and, I'm certain, the PC releases of Legion Arena, terrain type is crucial. Too crucial, in fact. Although RGB is based on the very successful Legion engine, it's not Legion Arena; some UK players posted that terrain didn't s...

Rome Great Battles not os great?
I've read the reviews, including the one on ths forum, and like the concept of the game; but a handful of player reviews from the UK for the PC version of Rome were disappointing to say the least, citing poor graphics and other complaints, i.e., it doesn't matter where you place troop types re terra...
