Problem running GS 1.06

When I try to run GS 1.06 I get a message saying the program can't find Java.exe. I have no idea what to do about that.

A few questions before I buy

I have a few questions about the game before I buy.

Is stacking of units allowed?

How are naval units represented? Are there different types of naval units? Named ships or abstract flotillas as in 3rd Reich?

Is there any music/sound effects in the game?

Where/what to buy.

I'm confused. I see that Commander-Europe at War Gold is available from Matrix. and they list the latest patch as 1.12. Then here I see MILITARY HISTORY C-EAW which has an update of version 1.06. Are these two games the same? If so why isn't patch 1.12 available here? If not, what are the difference...
