Best Roman game ever
Wow! I love this game. Once I took care of the stability issues I was having and got over the moderate learning curve, I began to understand what a deep and rich game it is. Check out my review on Metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/alea-jacta-est

Re: Middle late Roman empire (3 to 6 century AD)
Of course I picked up AEGOD's Alea Jackta Est as soon as it was released. With the current scenario list stretching from 100BC to 200AD and more promised (including Trajan's Dacian Wars and the Crises of the Third Century AD), it appeared to be just the game I was looking for. The trouble is, it is ...

Re: Pandora - First Contact
I like what I see with Pandora so far. It sounds a lot like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, but this is not necessarily a bad thing because Alpha Centauri was a great game. In any event I hope the factions in Pandora are as interesting and colorful as they were in AC. Anyway, I will be watching this ...

I like most of the Battle of the Bulge. It is a difficult campaign but if you use proper tactics you will prevail. I also play to the minor objectives. So, for the opening game, I generally deploy forward but in depth. Make sure your 3 57mm guns have clear lines of fire. This one, "Hold Your Fire ...

Nice reporting - I really appreciate you taking the time to write so nicely about this great game. I caught that mention of Sgt. Rock comics. I have a 6 year old just nuts over BA and I found the old Sgt Rock and Haunted Tank comics bundled into black and white reprints to feed his growing reading ...

Thanks for the clarification guys. Having said that, I must confess that I've not yet played an individual scenario. IMHO it seems that the battles would be much more interesting when played as part of a campaign rather than as stand-alones, though again I do agree that many of the scenarios are ...

I think the key to winning decisive victories in the 1939-43 scenarios is to practice the true blitzkrieg tactic. That is, try to bypass enemy strong points wherever possible and make a beeline for the objective towns. Of course there are exceptions. Sometimes an enemy strong point is astride your ...

I just posted a review on Metacritic under 'NGResonanceFan' 8) FYI, their formatting doesn't seem to allow for paragraph breaks so my review is one large paragraph. In any event I gave the game a '9'. Also, I had wanted to put a review on Gamespot, but you have to be a subscription or a 'Level Three ...

Ok Merr, understood. So you don't deploy to the houses on the right? Again, when I tried the scenario my guys in the fortifications on the right side of the hill got nailed big-time by the German infantry firing from the row of houses. It almost seemed like the hilltop fortifications were giving me ...

Wow Merr, I'm blown away! What you guys are talking about I guess is a very aggressive defense well-away from the vp squares on the fortified hill next to the bridge. Of course this would require a much larger force than I had on hand, though again it is my intention to backtrack two missions and ...
